Please, read my profile. My computers are part of my contribution. My telescope is part of my contribution, my work units completed are part of my contribution. My recruiting others to our efforts is part of my contribution.

Sounds like you're another of us from the 9-edge face down generation :)

I left instructions to be burried that way ;0}

With your Port-A-Punch of course ;)

The 029 is easier to use (and a lot quieter than the 026).

And doesn't use vacuum tubes!

Ah, light-emitting transistors. I remember those.

Message 118992 - Posted: 5 Jun 2005, 0:41:03 UTC - in response to Message 118843.

If my computers are running 24 hours a day crunching for Seti, then yes I would expect at least one person at Seti to be monitoring what is going on and post a message saying there is a problem and someone, somewhere is working on getting it corrected. I never had this long a problem with seti classic. To keep us updated is not asking too much!

Then to be blunt about it...you didn't run Classic long enough!!!!!
Classic was done many many many times for different reasons. That being down part is partly the reason we have cache programs for our work units in Classic. Did you ever hear of the "public queues"? Some are STILL up and running and people are STILL using them! Why did they come about, because Berkeley was down and couldn't provide the units while private people could and did!
Berkeley HAS been down many times under Classic and will be down under boinc again! The odds against NEVER being down are so astronical as to be non-existant. Get thru it, find a way to cope, they have lives too.
Berkeley has OFTEN suggested we run multiple projects because they KNOW they cannot provide enough units to keep all of us happily crunching all the time!
Do you remember when in Classic they told us often AFTER the outage was long over that it had happened and why it occured? Doesn't sound like it, Berkeley is MUCH better at telling us what is going on than they used to be! Are they perfect? NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!! Can they get better? ABSOLUTELY!!! WILL they get better? Again ABSOLUTELY!!!

A unit that doesn't use vacuum tubes isn't worth mentioning...

I am getting a bunch of downloads, but none of my comptuers are getting uploads.

Different priorities ... different parts.

Less people are hitting on them to get work than trying to deliver work that has been done. I have 19 lined up to go in ... but when I get new, it is only for one or two ...

So, easer to get new than to upload done ...

Yeah, I've got ~50 lined up. I'm not really complaining, just making an observation. I did get atleast one to go in though:

Speaking of dates on posts, take a look at the Classic Seti Home page, right hand side in the News.

There's a post from June 8, 2005. I'm pretty sure that hasn't happened yet.

Yea, I took out the post, I don't know the difference between May and June.

Gotta get me one of them paper things you hang on the wall, with all the boxes with numbers,... what's it called, a CalInDar?
