Very nice idea...

Its WMV if that helps and should play via Win Media player Or better still 'windows media player classic'..

You might need a plugin for FireFox. I had to do similar for quicktime using Opera Browser :(

Eitherway you can download the wmv file here:

http://w3range.net/postcards/media/Cap0002.wmv (900kb?)

I can view Keith's with FireFox, but for some reason the link to NA is not loading for me. I know I can view it cause I have already seen it using FireFox.

[EDIT] Won't load with my IE either. [END EDIT]

In Opera I installed Quicktime Alternative. This runs though the webpage above has crashed Opera a few times.

NeoAmsterdam's film is really classy. Worth a look if you get the chance.

It is mp4 and can be directly downloaded from:

http://w3range.net/postcards/media/na.mp4 (3MB?)

It will play in Windows Media Player (though it uses an odd audio codec.)

Thanks for the link, but I already saw it.. I was just commenting that the link provided on Chips Site did not seem to work for me with either IE or Firefox and I have both WMP and QuickTime loaded in both browsers..

I just want to know how NA managed to stay on the Brooklyn Bridge all night without being mugged or arrested as a street bum :)

[EDIT] I may have to post the capture of the freshest lobster I ever ate [END EDIT]

Perhaps they do not understand the MP4 tag when EMBEDed ?

If that was the case I would not have been able to see this video when I got it from a page he created. I saw the clip before Chip posted it..

Break out the headphones because the audio on Keith's piece is 70% of the fun!

OK. I took another look at this as this file will not play (complains of audio codec) in "Windows Media Player Classic"..

Should play in WMP but if not the codec problem may be the same.

The codec required for MP4 is 3IVX.. and can be got from:

3ivx Audio Codec for MP4

Worth getting Koepi's XviD video Codec whilst there as well..

I tossed them off the bridge. :-P Actually, there was an accident on the bridge - I got there just in time to see the crashed car getting towed away.

I put up a new version (2MB MP4) to fix some sloppiness in the first "print". This still is the smallest version I could manage. I hadda cut down on the frame rate, so the clouds now trudge by, but the on-span animation should be much smoother because I dropped the keys to every 4 frames.

[EDIT] Now that I'm comparing it to the one I initially posted... yup. I blew the music. I'll fix it soon enough... [/EDIT]

I still think this is a nice piece and the music just goes great for that night time in the city feel...

Now you've squeezed it though its rather pixelated even at 1:1 where as before it was still reasonable at full screen. You can only squeeze so much :)

It couldda been worse. The finished master is 465.5MB - way too large (unless you're a download-masochist)!

The music (Moby's "Everloving") has to run the full two minutes - cutting it short in a loop just doesn't work. Also, the framerate somehow looked better even though it was choppier. My guess is that between the codec error between keyframes on top of already jerky motion from the time-lapse gives it a more film-like look. Problem is that MPEG-4 only lets you use either 160×120 or 320×240 (and this was a 720×480 workspace), so it's a small sacrifice.

So this will be the final version - 18 frames per second, 6 frames per key, 2:10 runtime, 3 MB MPEG-4, 320×240, 24kb/s AAC audio.

He he.. Don't care anymore with broadband :). Used to take an hour to get a 5mb MP3 on dial up :(

Visually very nice even at double size but the audio is speeded up. At the end it makes you have a higher pitched voice and it sounds like you are saying 'soccer' not 'salute' :)

Your original actually streamed quite well though I'm not on dialup.

What do you mean by "sped up"? There shouldn't be any difference in the audio - I never changed its speed...

Like your postcard - very Flashy. ;-)
