Amateur Radio provided Emercomms using NZR HF Propagation. Currently looking at use of FS-1045/FS-1052 and Digital SSTV. Hold UK Notice of Variation for Fixed/Portable Operation on 5MHz.
Gosh that was written a while ago, got to be at least 8 or 9 years ago, currently radio is on the back burner, I have three active hobbies at the moment, home brewing, videography/video editing, and shooting.
I'm a medically retired 47 year old Ambulance Paramedic, the wife still works in Social Services within Child Protection, I'm a towny, she's from the sticks, but I love outdoor field sports and she loves the town, weird eh?
The home brewing has been accused of reaching microbrewery proportions, although I have the capacity to brew about 100 gallons of beer a month, I don't, I'd never drink it all. In fact, I only drink a couple of pints during the course of an evening, if that, and maybe only once a week.
I'm the voluntary Video Support for the England Deaf Rugby Team, I've even spent months creating a DVD of their last International, which they are selling on eBay, do a search! I pay for and maintain their presence on Vimeo too.
Shooting, well after a gap of over twenty years, I was given an air rifle a year ago, in exchange for a doppler radar system I'd built, things have run their course and I'm applying for a Firearms Certificate next month December 2012, I think I'll be hand loading, I have a few courses I want to attend, and despite my physical disability I want to go Deer Stalking eventually, most likely from a hide. I have two permissions, one for vermin, small game, and Fox, and another for Fox and small deer. I used to be in Military Service with the Territorial Army.
Funnily enough, my youngest son is deaf and plays rugby for England Deaf, my middle son is Manager of a Public House, and the oldest has just joined the Royal Air Force, I honestly didn't plan any of it. |
