Personal background
I have always loved space. As a child I would read everything I could about astronomy and space travel.I think I was influenced the most by the field trips we took to the local high school that had a planetarium. It was exciting to sit with my parents and wait for the lights to go down and the stars to appear. The astronomy teacher (Mr.Hall)would lecture and point out the stars and constellations. I also remember watching the Apollo 11 moon landing. We had really landed on the moon. It couldn`t be long before a manned mission to Mars,RIGHT? As an exchange student to The UK, I was able to visit The Jodrell Bank Observatory. This was a great experience for me.I am also a SCI-FI freak.Especially Star Trek. Everything from the original to Enterprise.I hope we will soon have our own First Contact.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that there is life on other planets. I don`t really think that they are visiting us now.Hopefully they to have a program like SETI@home and are searching for us. I think it is important to run SETI and other programs that incorporate mass computer power. It is a very good way for everyday people to make a difference.
