Purple Time Attack rims with a lime green car, interesting. 17x9 and 195/40r17 won't work, the tire will fit rims up to 7.5", not 9"...

I was looking for 17x6.5" wheels just not in any particular color for a 195/40r17 tire in a 4x100 bolt pattern with a 48mm backspacing, I got close at 17x7" w/45mm, at $499.99 a wheel, egad that's $1,999.96 for 4 wheels and I haven't put 4 tires on the wheels. 5x100 is not available in any Chevy Spark.

Mazda Miata was mentioned for the 17" wheels.

I found the tires in a Yokahama ADVAN FLEVA V701 at $135.48 each as an EV tire...

I'd need 5-10mm in spacers, probably front and rear, the rear handles a 6.5" wheel now, the front 6" without a 5mm spacer, 6.5" would need a 5mm spacer. 7"? I don't know.

I'm just going to stick with 15x6" wheels and get four 195/55-15 Hankook V2 Concept H457 Tires, they cost much less.

Purple would have looked great, sigh. The rims also do 4x114.3 too.

End of Day #3 and what tedium!

So the operators know the numbers and the procedures, and they know all the excuses in the book and yet more yet to be written down... At least my presence seems to be magical for getting them to actually follow the numbers and procedures...

So why can't they do all that for themselves?!

... I could then get on with much more useful and fun stuff!

Day #4 and what a rollercoaster!

... Very busy day chasing all round for the operators to finally get their act together at the very last moment...

And at that, all is then nicely positive and they're almost giggling off to the pub even before any beers! A total turnaround!!

However, there is an almost impossible fear from all for even the most small of changes to what they 'normally' do...

And this is only Monday!

It's Monday?

The most feared day on the calendar.

I'm still looking for Purple 15"x7" wheels for the green car, silver is so yesterday.

$500 each is not something I like paying, not for 4 wheels.

I can find purple on ebay for a lot less, but no 15x7, just 15x8 in purple. Like $139.05 at least per wheel in a 4x100 bolt pattern.

The tires I use don't don't support more than a 7" wheel, 8 seems to be the narrowest I can find, though I'm still looking.

No, I might talk to MST directly as they do make 15x7 wheels, the $500 is so people will buy from a dealer or reseller.

Pictured is a 5x100 bolt pattern in a 15x7 wheel. This is 13lbs vs 25lbs for the stock 15x6 Chevy Spark wheel. Both support 1100lbs a wheel.

I can get two 15x6 Chevy Spark wheels in June for about $86-$99 each and they are stock to my car.

The only tires I could find for a 15x8 wheel are racing tires @ 225/45r15, some are slicks and they are expensive and sticky and are not meant for the streets.

Chilling out with some very good numbers.

The Challenge is to enthuse the rag tag motley zombied bunch to repeat a similar triumph for a second day!

Here's dreaming...

Warming up after picking up my prescriptions and some food.

Trulicity is on order and will be here asap.

Temp outside 61F, feels like 58 and Fair, winds/gusts 17/26mph from the WSW.

It is warmer in the car and in the home than outside.

It's amazing what a spinal reset achieve.

Well we've reached 25C (feels like 23C) here today.

Anyhow I'm just catching up on the overseas news that I missed out on seeing this morning.

Cheers.

Message 2133804 - Posted: 12 Mar 2024, 20:20:40 UTC

I'm not winning on this Hump Day morning.

I was up at a ridiculous 3am, couldn't get back to sleep, then found that once getting up found that I can't stand straight without pain again and at 7am I'm just about to have a 4th coffee of the morning (I'll be peeing well shortly), but I have got all my usual Hump Day domestic duties done.

I was going to start taming my jungle again today, but that won't be happening as I don't want to make spinal matters any worse than they currently are so I may have a go at cutting and preparing the 3 steel plates that I need to finish another project off instead (as I won't have to stand up straight to do that).

We got off to a breezy 12C (felt like 10C) start here this morning and hopefully that will start going up soon towards our expected 25C. Thankfully the forecasted heatwave that we're suppose to be having has died in the butt.

Anyhow I better finish this coffee before I go and water my veggies.

Cheers.

Again chilling out after a day of good numbers.

However... Those good numbers have taken a lot of chasing round and...

I fear all will be for naught as soon as I'm recalled back to civilisation...

(Still avoiding the fish 'n' chips 'n' dubious grease and enjoying a complete lack of ill effects! Topped up my healthy hamper with an opportune detour mid-mission mid-afternoon. No sarky adverse comments suffered, yay.)

Are you sure that being sent to the boondocks isn't some sort of punishment Martin?

Well I just had a look outside and even Dog doesn't want to get out on that long wet grass as yet so I'll give it another hour before I go out traipsing around on it so I guess that I'll get into my metalworking gear and start setting up on the concrete at the front of the shed instead of watering veggies first.

Cheers.

Yesterday I saw a car like mine, though in truth I don't know if it was an ICE version or an EV version, it even had the same paint color and body design, so yep my car has a Doppelgänger out there, now if it's evil or not I don't know.

I'm currently getting 2.9kWh per mile and last I looked the battery had 58 miles out of 82 EPA miles with a low of 43 miles, the range has been going up as it gets warmer outside, which might be cause I park my car outside under a carport since I have no garage, the tires that I use?

Achilles ATR two front 185/55-15 and two rear 195/55-15 tires which are stock for my car, supposedly cause of the weight of the big battery which weighs 474lbs & is made by LG Chem(same as in the Bolt EV/EUV, just 27ah(2p96s) for the Spark instead of 55ah(3p96s) for the Bolt), the 2014 had a 560lb LFP battery. I'm weighing whether to get 4 new Kumho Solus TA31 195/55-15 tires or not in August as they can deliver 5.0kWh per mile I've read, though I will get two front 15x6" rims so I can rotate the tires, mine? I've not seen that 5.0kWh, yet. The rear wheels are 6.5" wide and from what I've read can't be used at the front cause they hit the struts, the 6.0" wheels can be use anywhere as can the 195/55-15 tires. The big battery is under the rear seats and the trunk and is above the rear axle.

My car has no ICE parts like a gas tank or exhaust or piston engine, though it is able to accelerate very fast, not bad for a tiny car, a Mustang it isn't, but not bad.
This is a 2015-2016 Spark EV battery, the 2014 looked like this.
The seller wants $4,320.00 for this, refurbs cost about $10,400.00 before installation.
No I'm not going to buy this as I don't think mine is bad, at least I hope not.

I have wondered that, and suspiciously so... Except...

There is a genuine claim that I have "special skills". I suspect the main combination there is that of understanding 'difficult' accents and of showing a good length of Patience... I can also translate all the technical bits into the 'local ways of doing things'.

That group have right royally... 'exceeded the patience' of multiple others who were sent to help. There's my relief colleague and myself who are the last hope for them.

... And they have my colleague somewhat stressed out so I'm doing more than my fair share.

I'm losing patience with the loss of my lifetime out here...

After 8hrs with an hour of that out in the sun cutting and grinding pieces of 3/16" plate into what I need I;m ready for a few beers, once I hobble up the pub, and I might even have a feed while I'm there.

It's now 20C (feels like 18C) here, but it felt more like 30C on the concrete in front of the shed.

P.S. I did get the veggies watered just before I started cutting away.

Cheers.
