Storm J has hit. It's very wet... The drains and ditches are full and overflowing across the road... Can't see much either... Just an all enveloping wet grey merging seamlessly from sky to soggy ground... All very good for a cinematic sci-fi scene on some alien world... And the wind doth howl and the rain doth rattle along... See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

In Tuscon AZ today. I love the desert southwest in the winter. Currently 48f and very humid. Humid and desert don't seem to mix, but it's been raining on and off so everything is damp. |

Posting on a cool Hump Day morning where it's 14C (feels like 13C) while 30C is expected and I'm not looking forward to that. Cheers. |

By 'eck it's breezy enough to blow you off yer feet! Or instead to at least slide you sideways into the ditch!! And the incessant whoosh sounds something like a giant turbine engine exhaust... Not the usual walk on the wild side... Still aghast at the unhealthy food here. And the very poor health of the people here... For them mentally and physically... Not surprising this locale has a lower life expectancy than elsewhere around our Great Isles... Good to be a 'just visiting' observer. Well that's the veggies, Dog and a few other things done outside as the temp here gets up to a muggy 20C so I've retreated into my lair where's it's currently a muggy 18C (feels like 15C) with the wind tunnel in action and we'll see how long I can outlast the heat for this time. Anyhow I'll get my last cuppa in before I decide on what I'll entertain myself with for the rest of the day. Cheers. |

The 'delicacy' here is one-foot-long burnt greasy sausage in an ultra processed stale white sugary bun... Add flavours to whatever mutated tastes... Even the burnt smell is vomit inducing... And I made my dash back to my digs safely inbetween the drenching squalls. All good fun! My cars 3 wipers work as does the defogging, driving in the rain, passing gas stations by as useless, my CA license plates came in the mail today, I put them on the car myself. 7 DIP sockets in 40, 42, and 48 pins for my Amiga 2000 EATX motherboard are on the way here from the UK. These Dip sockets are for Super Denise, Gary, Paula, Bluster, 2 CIA chips, and Kickstart(in ROM from 1.3-3.2.2), 7 parts down and 129 to go and that doesn't include the Custom chips and the MC68000 cpu... The Fat Agnus chip(the 8375 uses 2Mb of what is called Chip ram where all the custom chips can access ram, just not Fast or Slow ram, the cpu can access all ram) uses an 84 pin square plcc socket and this Motorola MC68000 cpu uses a 64 pin Dip socket, later MC68000 cpus use a plcc socket. Right now all I can find are PAL chips, an NTSC version of the 8375 is what I need or I'd have to buy a reverse engineered NTSC version that boots as NTSC and can be switched to PAL and back to NTSC, as these 8375 chips are expensive. Tools and such to work on a case and to test some drives are on the way, plus a BLUE psu cable that plugs into the wall. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

We reached 29C here today and I was able to stay in the cool until 7pm when the temp outside equaled the inside at 26C before going outside to attend to things again. It's down to 18C now with 15C again expected in the morning before an even hotter day is to be had. Cheers. |

Oh what a day! So... An excavator cleared one of the floods... All good goopy fun. Very nearly as much fun as: The Worst Excavator Recovery Of My Career The day started off with quite an intense 'round table' meeting. Thankfully we stayed out of the pit of despare of The Expert... To then afterwards, with much running around and chasing the clock: Successfully pass the regulatory external safety tests! Yay!! (They were a gang of three inspectors, who initially had me freaked out with them jovially announcing an immediate fail due to in area infraction for the first equipment they saw... They were joking and were fine about shifting the thing. Phew! I'd been too rushed and stressed to look! Hey ho... They were happy enough and told me to calm down... They had a serious but jokey approach so it was a case of go along with the joviality...) Just the one warning about some worn parts that are close to their acceptable minimum. Those need replacing come the better weather of summertime. One operator nearly blew the day with a sloppy measurement... I found out afterwards that he'd never been trained up for what that measurement was!!! Duh! Another early start is due tomorrow. Further meetings and follow-on checks. Hopefully we get supplied with some replacement equipment for another week or few. And... My jealously keeping to my own proper whole ground coffee has worked wonders! Next is to avoid the greasy chips with everything here. Even the sop to healthy living with the option for halloumi comes deep fried battered!!! The only salad and veg or anything green or leafy is only whatever it is that I bring in... Next is to bring in a decent coffee mug for myself... Then again... I've got no wish to even hint at moving in here... The ops here would be all far too happy to switch off their brains entirely... ps: Nope, this is not Boeing! Well I locked inside a muggy 19C (feels like 16C) at 8am when the outside temp hit outside hit a muggy 19C (felt like 20C) and hit 22C downstairs, but how long I can keep it cool in here today is yet to be determined. It's up to 26C now. Anyhow I might as well get another coffee and grab that book that I've been reading and just take it easy until later this afternoon. Stay cool and hydrated. Cheers. |

Even the sop to healthy living with the option for halloumi comes deep fried battered And there they serve battered chocolate bars as a delicacy! ... At least there's some civilisation over there... All very damply post serial storms under an impenetrable grey murk with wet bits... See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

And there they serve battered chocolate bars as a delicacy! I know of a few unhealthies. Batter dipped deep fried twinkies, ice cream and Coca-Cola. Make a batter using Coca-Cola as the wet ingredient and deep fry it. |
