Well here we go again.

The following are the Rules:
-------------

1. Winner of the last thread starts the new one with a post of these rules.
2. Chooses a future event which triggers the winner, e.g. post number, date-time, and records it privately somehow (yellow sticky, etc.)
3. Everyone has fun posting until the target event is reached.
4. When the target is reached, old winner posts declaration of new winner and also PMs them.
5. Shortly after this a Mod will lock the recently won thread. (My preference is for the winner to ask the mods to lock the old thread after the new one is started.)
6. No double posts. Violators buy drinks or a meal for the house in Rocky's.
7. Additional rule retained from the last round - No posts that APPEAR to be blank - these will be ignored or deleted. (Sig lines do not count as part of a post)

And be Excellent to one another!

Have fun!

Cheers.

Well done Wiggo.
That was a really nice clean "fight", let's hope this one is as good.

Wiggo, yes, a well timed post of great portent. Congrats!

Do you also get a shaft of light selecting the next brew in the brew room?... :-)

... Ooops... Sorry, wasn't that the Map Room from a few thousand years ago for an old alignment at Tanith?... :-p

Enjoy!

Thanks Rob, Mike, Martin, Gary, Vic and Carlos.

Well this wind is drying things out here after overnight/all morning rain for the shortest day of the year and I've now got things ready for a bloody good frost tomorrow. My solar panels didn't do too badly here either putting in a 21kw/hr day on only half a short day of sunshine.

At least the days will get longer now.

Cheers.

We had a tornado warning last night but nothing happened.
Not even a drop of rain only strong winds.
So winning i guess.

So... Well... Ooops!...

Following on from earlier success, my decoupling capacitors fix for some minimally smoothed Chinese circuit board #2 was only a partial fix on the night...

So... Putting the documentation together (yes, we do documentation,) and checking a photograph documenting the changes made and... Ooops! All the disc ceramics looked good and neatly in place but... I'd been a bit kack-handed with a bigger tantalum capacitor that very definitely showed a visibly dry joint on one side... Ooops.

So, that soldering was remade at the first opportunity, whereupon upon testing I next noticed that an electrolytic reservoir capacitor that I'd added was getting slightly warm... Mmmm... Too much ripple current for that one then?...

Then again, with the large tantalum smoothing capacitor now actually in circuit, the fix appears to be working well enough without the need for the electrolytic... So that redundant component is staying removed. So hey-ho. See how the latest fix behaves over the ambient heat cycling over the next 24 hours.

So far... All looks good.

Except... Have I similarly underestimated the ripple current hammering the reservoir capacitor I added to the circuit fix #1 a good few days ago?...

And as usual, the supplier doesn't have any circuit diagrams available or any details on the operation that we can check...

Here's watching for any system drop outs as the heat rises...

Posting on another frosty sub-zero Saturday morning down under. I'll be able to see how much frost when that sun rises in around 90mins.

Anyhow it's time for a coffee.

Cheers.

The only Ripple I like is of the Fudge type, and then it better not have any milk chocolate in it...

Or there will be hell to pay for about a week in my bathroom.

Yes I should get myself across the road to the supermarket to get some food for Dog and some milk for myself.

Well yesterday saw the lowest sunny day production from my solar panels with a 38.9kw/hr day which still more than covers my usage and gives the family renting the house a good discount on their bill. I can't wait for these panels to be paid off now so I can get a decent battery system to deal with night time usage while providing power when the grid goes down (as it has a habit of doing around here).

Anyhow the sooner I get across the road the sooner I can have my last coffee for the morning.

[edit] It'd be a nice day out there if it wasn't for that wind, but I still may try LLB up at the pub anyway. ;-)

Cheers.

Waiting for an email from the capsbc which might come in July or maybe this week sometime.

No food shopping today. The kitchen is all vacuumed much to the weevils dismay, I hate weevils.

Washed all the dishes & stainless ware that was in the sink and put them in the dish drainer to dry.

I combined 2 containers of Ortho Home Defense into 1 container, next time I'll have to prime the pump again.

Temp got up to 94F today, it's 82 inside at my desk and 79-80 elsewhere in my home.
