Well that's the laneway and a good deal of the backyard trimmed, but I'll leave the finish up and mow for tomorrow morning. Time now for a couple of beers before lunch and a spinal reset. ;-) Cheers. |

Thwarted AGAIN by an ignorant abomination of plumbing... Sheesh... Aaaargh!! ... Some plumbers really must have no brain... Or at least no concept of planning a job, let alone getting the pipes straight... So... A supposedly simple 30mins job and that's expanded to a good half day for the sake of no physical access remaining after the pipework mess has been added. There's even a chunk cut out of a wooden support for the sake of not getting a pipe to fit parallel/orthogonal to the support!! Looking at the spaghetti mess of fittings and contortions, it really does look like a tick-list was followed of incrementally adding bits line by line with no overall thought for the job... It looks like each part was added by isolated blind monkeys in complete blind isolation... Except... This was all 'banged in' in one go... The end result must have been a lot more work than pausing for a moment to lay it out neatly!! Incredible! Have plumbers got a lifelong chip on all shoulders to stymie all other work for the sake of their bent pipes?? Phew! At least the space has not been encased in expanded spray foam in an attempt to hide the turgid mess. So... The solution?... (A rip-out reinstall is awfully tempting...) Is... To move some equipment and dismantle a side panel and worm in from the other side... Just as well I'm practiced in the Art of Zen and Speleology! A window install is in progress, all of the glass has been extracted and any debris has been vacuumed off the floor or other surfaces, so far I've not lost any of the 3 cats here. I just have to watch the front door, the bathroom door is closed while the install is happening. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Oh... An actual old school physical window, using glass?... As opposed to doing the Microsoft Three R's software dance?!... Enjoy! (Reformat, Reinstall, Reboot...) See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

The window install is done and I have the pink copy of the receipt The blinds are down and the tub needs some vacuuming, but otherwise this is done and I still have 3 cats. It's 61F outside with clear skies, good day for an install. One more window to go in a small bedroom and I will have replaced all of the windows that can be replaced. Good stuff. Looks good and clean. A good thumbs up! I'm still in disbelief at an unsightly abomination of implausibly impractical plumbing that was suffered earlier. It must have creatively taken extra work to have made it that bad! Where's Harry Tuttle when you need him?... !!! It'll hopefully keep the bugs out Vic. Posting on a lightly frosted start on the top of this big hill where it's 2C (feels like 0C) with 18C being expected. Time for a coffee. Cheers. |

Good stuff. Looks good and clean. A good thumbs up! Thanks ML1, betreger, and Wiggo. They were off by 1/4" on the height on their measurements and the width was perfect, my measurements being inside were worse, luckily they were short rather than over, a few shims and the window fits, $624.30 total, the one behind my desk cost $370.00 by comparison... An increase of $254.30... I just got back from the store. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I've just about finished my 3rd coffee break for the morning after getting the backyard all ready for some mowing action as the temp climbs to 16C (feels like 13C) here. Cheers. |

I'm just happy that the power is now back on here and I can get something to eat (I don't have anything handy atm to cook on the fire or I would've eaten earlier). As this gale continues to blow over this range were reached 16C (felt like 10C) here today, but we're now back to 13C (feels like 6C) with a possibly frosty -2C in the morning. Cheers. |
