My dinosaur of a desktop computer is giving me some problems today. It’s old. It is a hybrid that can use both IDE and SATA hard drives. It is taking a long time to index files in windows explorer. Then stops responding when I try to go to a different subdirectory.

Mmmmm...

Is that a sign of a disk that is full, or worse, failing with errors?...

A dusty overheat?...

Backups??...

An attack of some updates or antivirus gone awry??

Good luck!

Got the drive moving over half a terabyte of files to another mostly empty drive. This might help I hope.

Posting on a Saturday morning as the sun rises on a very foggy morning in the highlands.

Cheers.

Have check my defragmentation schedule. All my drives where at 0% fragmentation. My SSD is on never. So I have no worries about it.

Well my Saturday didn't quite go as planned, not that it went badly either, so hopefully I can sorta catch up with things tomorrow before the expected rain gets here.

Cheers.

We were doing ok here this morning until someone's fog turned into cloud here, but the temp is still going up.

It was a clear & cool 7C (felt like 5C) here at sunrise, but we're now at an overcast 19C (feels like 17C) as I'm about to go out and get some more yard work done.

Cheers.
