Sadly quite a number of the technical reference books in my collection are not available in digital forms, and won't be unless I buy a paper copy and have it scanned :-( Besides that I'm an ardent annotator of tech books and most available e-readers annotation systems are very inadequate :-( Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Winning on a windy, but sunny, Sunday morning. Downstairs should get warmed up enough this morning to get some more metalwork done. Cheers. |

That reminds me of: Cubum autem in duos cubos, aut quadratoquadratum in duos quadratoquadratos & generaliter nullam in infinitum ultra quadratum potestatem in duos eiusdem nominis fas est dividere cuius rei demonstrationem mirabilem sane detexi. Hanc marginis exiguitas non caperet. Translated: It is impossible to separate a cube into two cubes, or a fourth power into two fourth powers, or in general, any power higher than the second, into two like powers. I have discovered a truly marvellous proof of this, which this margin is too narrow to contain. And your quote that goes beyond the confines of the margin is?... ;-) Going beyond the pale?! :-P Aside: Rather than lose thoughts in scribblings in random books, I've kept a 'scratch' text file of thoughts and quotes that acts as a sort of database extension to my own mind. Very good for helping out with (augmenting) a drunken memory! Keep searchin', Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

I like reading manga online on my cellphone. At home I like to connect my screen mirror tool and use a wall projector as a 130 inch monitor to read or browse the net. Netflix streaming is fun. A comfortable chair and a bowl of popcorn… Update: Took my dad out to eat and talked about my stepmom’s condition. He said she was doing okay. Just some cracked ribs, vertebrae and a lot of bruises . She can move around the room some on her own. The cellphone pictures of the Dodge Journey said it was a total loss from the firewall forward. I do think the insurance company is going to do some investigation work as the airbag system DID NOT deploy. Not a bag one. The steering wheel is intact and pristine. The seatbelt did its job. |

Good to hear your stepmom is going to do ok. Sounds like a low-bang impact for the airbag not to deploy. Or... Safety failure?... Still an unwelcome "Ouch!"!! I prefer nuts or olives to sugary popcorn... Shame cinemas do not offer healthier options other than abstinence! Enjoy! That's good news Admiral, but bad about the air bags (to be expected though seeing as very few U.S. manufactured vehicles do well on our ANCAP ratings with the best of them making 3 stars, the worst of them barely get 1). Meanwhile I finished the filing off on the 2nd small steel frame (25mm x 50mm x 2.5mm stuff) and got it welded together top and bottom, tomorrow morning I'll do the verticals and then I'll start welding the 1st frame together (unless my little mate turns up and wants to get into it as he was eager to get started yesterday and he's been 1 of my regular interruptions here of late) before grinding off the welds to se how well I've done. Anyhow I'm going to enjoy a few ginger beers now to see out a Sunday afternoon. Cheers. |

Winning on Sunday Morning. RE Cat theft: Paint your Cat with bright red Very High Temp paint and etch your VIN on it. Scrap dealers are required to check VIN ownership if it's on the cat. Plus the paint alone will deter the theft. The thieves will just go to the next car. They don't want to take the chance of an identifiable cat. Good news a major cat theft ring was just busted. Winning on Sunday Morning. Wish that were true, tweakers will take anything, they might not find a buyer though, but you are still out. |

It's a lovely sunny morning here today, it's just a shame about that wind out there coming off the snow down south. Cheers. |

Last week the local Walmart erected the 1st Xmas tree at their store. And I saw a VW ID4 EV at the Barstow CA Walmart Super Center. $40,000 for an ID4 min for the moment, at least until the base model starts being made in TN, the base model ID4 is supposed to be $35,000 in 2022. This could replace my nearly 25yr old car one day. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Well the mercury here has reached our expected max of a sunny 18C, but it feels like 10C out in that icy gale so I'll stay inside. Cheers. |

TGI--- Monday? Is that even a thing? Well, it is for me. I am expecting a job offer. I had 7 interviews with this company, including a long interview with HR to go over the benefits offered and a promise by the company president that he would have an offer for me today. I just might be working again soon. |
