And you've sent it all over here! In continued antipodean resonance, we've got some big fluffy stuff forming and turning dark grey very quickly... We're going to go swimmingly!! See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Tuesday win. Discovered something yesterday. If you own your own island you are responsible for fire response. A fire started on an island about a mile from me. It is not in any fire district. None of the fire departments responded. The owners were left on their own. Here is the plum of smoke at about 6 pm. The fire was first reported at about 6 am. |

Oooops!... They do have lots of water available for the sake of a pump and hose... Meanwhile, the water here is staying the sky, so far... See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Hey Carlos. Next you are going to tell us that you don’t call 911. Because you are 911. |

Oh what a beautiful evening. Outside that is... Meanwhile, one piece of 20-odds-years-old interface card has been retired (it still works!)... Meanwhile, meanwhile... Another piece of equipment a mere 25+ years old in the IT world is purring away at maximum capability and is nicely holding its own... Albeit a little slowly, but for a one-off job it is still good for the job and is vastly more cost effective than buying anything more recent! Such are the wonders of non-locked-in robust standards. More beer needed to keep this one running a while yet... See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

It's a nice sunny morning here so far, but some cloud is expected sooner or later, though only 9C is in the forecast for today with a cold westerly gale blowing. Cheers. |

Hey Carlos. Next you are going to tell us that you don’t call 911. Because you are 911. I was tempted to go help. I have two pumps in my boathouse. One is elect the other gas. The gas pumps over 300 gpm with a 3-inch fire hose connected to it. I could defend if there was a local fire, but I am not really mobile. |

I'm one for keeping in mind "What Ifs" and "Contingencies". That works very well and did work very well until I gave my services to a USA 'assets stripper' company. I quickly learnt not to waste my time fixing other peoples' cheapskate problems that they had bite them... Keep your pumps serviced and to hand for your own locality! It's you that had the conscientiousness and forethought to buy them... Sometimes all too often, people really do have to 'learn' the 'hard way' after whatever 'event'... Otherwise, be prepared to be renamed Cassandra! Stay safe folks! Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

The August westerly winds are certainly here today, but I don't ever remember them being this cold. It has gone from 2C (felt like -2C) here at sunrise to 5C (feels like -2C) 3.5hrs later. :-O Oh well the chemist shop and post office can wait until tomorrow or even Friday. Cheers. |

8-3-2021 at 7:03 PM - PDT [Update:] Well, dad's luck ran out. He had some sinus issues earlier this afternoon. He went in to be tested and came out Positive. :-( Now we all have it! (Except that mine has been cured by the Monoclonal Antibodies....) I believe that due to the treatments I've had that I'm no longer contagious; HOWEVER, my 10 day quarantine still technically isn't done until this Saturday. Mom is quarantined until Friday the 13th, and now dad is quarantined until the 17th. Other than some sneezing, dad has no Flu-like symptoms. Now; however, that we've all been tested Positive, I was able to get back into my regular chores around the house, as it makes no sense anymore to NOT touch stuff around here. So, for the first night since last Wednesday, I got to help dad with the dinner dishes. It felt good to get back to some semblance of 'normalcy'.... TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... I don't know about over there TL, but down here as a family unit you'd all stay quarantined until the last member is cleared and that's 14 days here ATM, though there is a push on now to make it 21 days based on certain evidence with these latest variants. Well we did reach 8C (felt like 1C) here for a bit early this afternoon, but we're now back to 6C (feels like -1C) as this cold gale blows across the top of this mountain. Cheers. |

Plus, again, with the Monoclonal Antibodies now in full effect as of today, in me, I'm "fully cured" and no longer contagious.... So, my remaining quarantine through this Saturday is more like a suggestion. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

'If only': We had a greater proportion of people conscientious enough, or aware enough, or financially able even, to conscientiously properly quarantine... At least with 'flu' people feel physically bad enough to be housebound to limit spreading the infection further afield. The COVID spread has been altogether far too successfully sneaky to be contagious before dealing the knock-out! Hang in there, enjoy a good book? Good luck to ya'll! Meanwhile over on another side of the planet, we have: Clouds, clouds, rain, clouds, Thor banging on, lots of clouds! Sticky cool humidity... All good fun! We have local storms. I was on the phone with a friend who was driving in New Mexico. All of a sudden I heard rain crashing on her car and several booms. She confirmed that for a moment the rain fell so hard she could not see. Oh well, I am winning on a clear cool morning. The fire is still burning but just barely. Most of the island is flooded. |
