Alameda county, where UCB is, is scheduled for power shutdown today at noon local time. The info at the moment is that the data center will stay up. I think it is important to know the situation, in case power does go out.

Sorry the page didn't work. I can only guess it works for me because I run noscript (shrug). The basic info is still that they have plans to turn off the power to the Berkeley area around noon California time. Info on the UC Berkeley IT page that was posted leads us to believe that seti will stay up.

08oc19aa is now being split.

The electric company websites for California are crap and are offline or buggy when needed the most. The websites are no longer working for me.

Seti on the other hand is up and splitting and working well, and I'm going to enjoy it!!!

Page says they are cutting 32K customers in Alameda county, county has a population of 1.6million. From that it is just going to be the houses deep in the hills, the multi-million dollar homes.

PG&E isn't going to cut the urban core, but they aren't saying that so they can scare monger votes to have utilities not held liable for fires they start because they don't want to pay crews to cut brush and pull their cables tight so they don't swing into each other.

. . It was a security certificate issue but it seems to have been resolved.

No panic! We have plenty of datafiles, the power is on and all is good.

UC Berkeley has canceled classes for Friday now.

Just an update from UC Berkeley. They are working to restore power today. Hopefully we won't notice any issues with Seti, but if you encounter a blip of connectivity issues, this might be the cause.

It does provide a useful function. number one it is great practice for Tuesday and it also give us something to discuss on Sunday.

I checked the list of apps, but didn't see a new one... but most of my WUs are use "SETI@home v8 v8.05x86_64-apple-darwin" but now a few of the WUs use "SETI@home v8 v8.05 (mac_intel32)i686-apple-darwin"

hmmmm.

maybe it was a test as only a few of the WUs have this.

2 of the handful of tasks it picked the wrong app for my machine resulted in error. I'm going to abort the rest of them that have been assigned to the wrong app. I have no idea why it did this, but hopefully it won't happen again. I post this in case anyone else experiences weirdness in app assignment and is curious.

The ones I got with the wrong app I got at

The system is working, so it isn't a panic, but the system is having issues. They have shutdown the Aricebo splitting - I'm guessing this is manually shutoff as the pfb and ap splitters show not running on the status page. The hourly return rate is 128k, which the system has handled nicely in the past, but now the deletion is lagging . it is this lagging that is causing me concern as usually the system can handle this rate just fine.
