See Message 2054371 for unfortunately yet another example of COVID19 and politics.

The coronavirus pandemic is very real and very deadly.

You DON'T KNOW How He Got It.

NO ONE Does

Yes, we do actually. He got it by being talked into those around him into thinking it wasn't a threat, which you seem to be persisting in doing (albeit briefly) ... so he didn't take precautions, nor did those around him.

The exact where or whom doesn't matter in the slightest.

For the USA, there have been more 'extra deaths' in the last 6 months than for all those killed over all the years of the Vietnam war!

All ignoring the bereaved.

All ignoring those sickened and left with long term injuries (typically ongoing fatigue, joint pains, loss of smell, loss of taste, and for some also a loss of memory and concentration).

All ignoring that such tragedies are unnecessary.

All for the sake of Trumped cruel politics ignoring the results of COVID19?!

All only in the USA?!

Well in the last 24hr reporting period the world passed 18 million cases and 687,000 deaths. :-(

In the U.S. California has passed a half a million cases with Florida in hot pursuit and Texas has now displaced N.Y. from 3rd spot while Georgia has taken 5th place from New Jersey with Illinois and Arizona in a race to see who can get to 6th place first, but on the whole there are at least a dozen other other states that are on the boil over there.

South Africa has become the 5th country to pass a half a million cases (and will likely surpass California's reported cases) while Iran has dumped the U.K. out of 10th place and then Colombia came along and dumped them well and truly back to 12th spot plus Colombia is now into a position to dump Iran out of 10th spot during this reporting period. Mexico has also displaced the U.K. from 3rd place on the death count. :-O

The Philippines has taken Egypt out of 25th place, but some other places remain up in the air until those countries that don't like reporting their numbers over weekends send their numbers in while here we're still waiting on Victoria to announce their latest embarrassment for us.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/01/health/red-onions-salmonella-outbreak/index.html
Red onions linked to salmonella outbreak that has sickened people in 31 states
A multistate outbreak of salmonella poisoning that has sickened almost 400 people in 31 states has been traced back to red onions, federal health officials said.
And a company based in Bakersfield, California is the likely source of the potentially contaminated onions, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
"Although the investigation has determined that red onions are the likely source of this outbreak, Thomson International, Inc. has notified FDA that it will be recalling all varieties of onions that could have come in contact with potentially contaminated red onions, due to the risk of cross-contamination," the agency said in a statement Friday.
The onion recall will include red, white, yellow and sweet onions from Thomson International.
So far salmonella Newport has sickened 396 people and put nearly 60 into the hospital. The first cases were reported between June 19 and July 11, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

Wow! Some non-coronavirus news!!

Sadly, that reminds me of this recent bad episode and the consequences of the (contaminated) 'waterhole effect':

We have a similar effect for spreading coronavirus or any other malady due to any waterhole-like venues, especially so with such as markets and shopping centres...

(Aside: s@h has been listening in on our own electromagnetic 'waterhole' in the hope of a best chance to find something...)

Note: "Waterhole" here refers to the analogy of how wild animals are all forced regardless to congregate at a common needed resource such as drinking at a singular waterhole.

Somewhat unusual for a salmonella outbreak to be linked to vegetables.

Very curious and strange...

Either the 'salmonella' has been misnamed (or misidentified?), or there is some strange food processing and cross contamination going on at or to/from the assumed food processing/packing plant...

The very widespread distribution across the USA and Canada is spectacular!

Yet another example of greedy rush and haste or just blind ignorance of what cannot be seen?

Or just blind greed cutting all immediate costs??...

The source article appears to be:

Food Safety Alert - Outbreak of Salmonella Newport Infections Linked to Red Onions

Looks like really, yes, salmonella...

Shame we don't get to see what cause is found... Is that something not to be 'disclosed' due to USA legalities and 'Proprietary and Confidential' 'concerns'?...

I said "unusual" not "unique" - there have been a few cases over the years. From memory one of them was the result of one of the people doing the harvesting being a carrier.

BBC - Coronavirus: Iran cover-up of deaths revealed by data leak
The number of deaths from coronavirus in Iran is nearly triple what Iran's government claims, a BBC Persian service investigation has found.

The government's own records appear to show almost 42,000 people died with Covid-19 symptoms up to 20 July, versus 14,405 reported by its health ministry.

The number of people known to be infected is also almost double official figures: 451,024 as opposed to 278,827.

Ouch - that is indeed a very bad situation on two fronts:
First the very high number of victims of Covid-19
And second that the government has lied to its people over the situation.

Even more confused as to what are the standards of what is a positive/inconclusive/negative test. In Formula 1 this last w/end's race driver Sergio Perez was unable to race because he tested inconclusive last Wednesday and then positive on Thursday, after a flying visit to see his mother after she had a bad accident.
There is now confusion as to whether he can take part in the next race, because the UK extended the quarantine period from 7 days to ten days between the two tests.

But there is even more confusion because the inconclusive last Wednesday was to FIA standards, but for UK standards that would be a positive.

Which presumably means that when the UK totals say 300,000+ cases it would be lower if done to the FIA testing levels. I wonder where the FIA standards come from, but as they are based in Paris, France, that would be a 'logical' bet.

(FIA - Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile also formerly known as Ferrari International Assistance)

In most sports the governing body rules trump local rules when it comes to health issues when it comes to the actual competing, so if the FIA says "You can't race, you can't race".
But local rules cover the time in the country, but not actually completing - this covers time in hotels, travel to and from the event and the like. So he's got to stay in his hotel until his ten days are up which probably means he can't take part in the qualifying & practice periods. But, if the FIA says he can race on Sunday (provided that is beyond his ten day quarantine period) he can race, provided he's allowed to without taking part in practice/qualifying.... I guess overall that means he's out for this one.

As the U.S. passes 4.9 million cases and 160,000 deaths the "Imbecile in Chief" claims that he has done a better job than many other countries. Which countries he's talking no one else knows about.

Trump spinning virus failure as a win again by celebrating 'encouraging' progress.

The only winning that he's really doing is happening within his own disturbed mind.

While the world passes 18.9 million reported case and 710,000 deaths not much has change in the top 10 expected that Chile looks to be running out of puff and Spain might reclaim 8th spot back from them, but Colombia might just poke their nose in on that move.

Saudi Arabia has cemented 13th place from Pakistan while Argentina jumped past Germany for 18th and Bolivia has made certain of 30th spot displacing Sweden. Japan has just reclaimed 30th from Armenia as cases sore again there but there are still many other races still on going.

Meanwhile down under here we await for whatever our southern trouble state has in store for us today as they now account for 2 thirds of out total case count and well over half our recorded deaths, but for some reason now our numbers are getting reported later as each day goes by. :-(
