Go to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/, and be confused.
Anyone else that have noticed that the "normal" BOINC page no longer exists?

You can't get to the BOINC message board either through the new page, but have to use a bookmark you hopefully saved.
WTF?

Information is as usual non existing.

Edit: However https://boinc.berkeley.edu/ links you to the "normal" BOINC site.
Geeze, what a joke.....

D.A. probably decided that he'd annoy us again with another of his dull ideas. LOL

Cheers.

I don't know how Gridcoin works. Any site, or investment "idea", with "coin" in it on the Internet, is immediately blacklisted on my computer :-)

He announced the idea yes, but not that he should F'up the BOINC site.
I've read his announcement on the BOINC msg board, and it was nothing there about F'ing up the website.

But then, why am I surprised?

Going to more secure https protocol has been standard procedure for all websites and browsers for the past year. Nothing new here to report.

So why is the "old" BOINC https (443), and the new with the otherwise same URL non secure http (80)?

So it's nothing new to report eh? So you knew about the new website? Why didn't you tell us?

Maybe I should answer in the same way in "Panic Mode On (XXX) Server Problems?" thread, when you or other multi computer/GPU crunchers complain about not getting new WU's?
"Nothing new here to report"

Yeah, I think I will.

It has also removed the BOINC download page. So no new users are currently able to join ANY projects.
Unless they with to participate in the Science United Alpha test.

The archived installer are still accessible via /dl at the moment.

Unless of course they are so net savvy that they know they should go for the https URL of course.
After all, everybody knows that "https protocol has been standard procedure for all websites and browsers for the past year. Nothing new here to report"
As I got shoved down my throat when I had the gall to start this thread, and question the oddity.

But then, the "new" site does not use secure https protocol (443), despite it being new, and should follow the "standard procedure for all websites" :-)
