I think in Tibet there was a real feeling of invasion and cultural and pervasive fear.

The case of the White House man was on an individuals level.

They are not really equal.

I doubt the US either has the cultural history, timeline or experience of invasion of Tibet.

Nor can the devastating actions of an individual, however sad, be always blamed on society's major problems.

Yep, yanks have to obey their laws wherever they are, like the law you can't have sex with someone under 18, so a sex tour to a place that allows that is criminal.

What that article didn't say is every pence you pay in tax to the foreign government comes off your US taxes, well, if the US and the foreign government have a tax treaty. It works the other way too, me sitting in California, USA has to pay taxes in Norway and Bermuda because those governments tax dividends even though they are going overseas to a yank who has never set foot on their soil.
