In the past, money may have had an importance. But with 24/7 news from both sides and social media just confirming what voters already believe and follow. It is possible that the money contributor's are just stuck in the last century and do not understand this new era.

We all know that, but that only applies to the diehards of both parties. The independents in the middle are what counts in all elections and they will decide their votes on who has the best presentation. It's opinions that people vote on, not facts.

If it were, it is predictions they vote on as they want to vote the winner or loser so they have something to say, er bitch about to their facebook friends.

A Russian woman with connections to so-called "trolls" is prosecuted for trying to influence the US mid-term election. It is the first time that the US Department of Justice officially charges a foreigner to influence a mid-term election.
The woman is accused of managing the economy for "Project Lakhta" that tried to influence the American political system, including through disinformation, reports several US media.
According to the prosecutor, the persons behind "Project Lakhta" have tried to influence the election by disseminating disinformation about political issues in which there is polarization in society, such as immigration, the weapons issue and the national anthem protests of the NFL.
The US authorities state at the same time that there is no evidence that the impact campaign has been successful.
Behind "Project Lakhta" stands the Russian oligarch Jevgenij Prigozjin, known as "Putin's Chef", according to the Washington Post , which refers to court documents.
Earlier this year, together with twelve other Russians, he was charged with attempting to influence the 2016 presidential election.
The allegations against the woman are coming shortly after the US authorities warned that they were worried about "ongoing campaigns" from Russia, China and Iran to influence the forthcoming mid-term elections and the elections in 2020.

Here all citizens don't have to register to vote. Why?
No. Every citizen aged 18 years or more get a voting certificate sent to their home adress.
When voting you cast the ballot and you also have to show your ID card.
However there are homeless people here as well.
And they are more concerned more in other things than voting because without a bankcard and an ID card they are f****d up anyway.
