Looks like a near 17% increase from the 8.05 to the 8.06(alt) for your machine.

Windows/x86 running on an AMD x86_64 or Intel EM64T CPU 8.05 10 Feb 2017, 20:57:18 UTC 267 GigaFLOPS
Windows/x86 running on an AMD x86_64 or Intel EM64T CPU 8.06 (alt) 1 Jun 2017, 17:48:19 UTC 206 GigaFLOPS

And the higher is getting lower and the lower is getting higher :)

Tom

. . Yep somewhere between 15 and 20 %, probably about the 16/17 mark.

. . And the numbers are getting ever closer :)

If/when second number will exceed first - testing will be completed.

So this test started on or about June 3rd. Today is June 11th. So we are just barely past a week into the test and we are only

Windows/x86 running on an AMD x86_64 or Intel EM64T CPU 8.05 10 Feb 2017, 20:57:18 UTC 266 GigaFLOPS

243/266 = 91% which is basically 9% short of breaking even. So lets get in there and push for that last 10% ! :)

Eric was going to release CPU apps with graphics correction, to see if the screensaver is working correctly,

If it does, then he will release it to Main.

So they need a few more days

When we were first having problems with the server, I think Mark said he emailed someone and they said 2 of the others were out of town and the person responding was themselves also out of town but was going to try and remote in. I take that as most if not all the staff are gone this week. Not unusual as it's summer and people need to take breaks/vacation/family time. If that is the case, I probably wouldn't expect any new releases until someone gets back.

Thank you for the reminder that Seti at Home is on "campus time" as well as "burn out removal" time :)

but with the graphics part fixed (and it is fixed)

Actually that's all we should know about 8.07 before release.

IMO Eric can do release any day from now.

Please do a final push now with v 8.07 (alt), just released on Beta, so we can get this fast app as stock here on main ASAP.
The more of you that runs it on Beta, the faster we can get it here on main.

. . For what it is worth I am running it now ... but I have BOINC set to NOT use the BOINC screensaver ... :(

You don't need to change anything in BOINC to test the BOINC screensaver.

Just go to the "normal place" in Windows where you choose screensavers.
You probably have selected now "Blank", select "BOINC" instead and set small delay (e.g. 2 minutes) to test it.

Had to set all of the other CPU projects to NNT and suspend a couple of running ones to be able to get SetiBeta to give me a couple of tasks to run and test.

Pic 1: Shows an Asteroids, ClimatePrediction, Cosmology, and SetiBeta running on CPU, 1 core each and a MooWrapper on the GPU. The graphics use some GPU memory and a little bit of the CPU.

Pic 2: Moo finished and now a Milkyway task is running on GPU with a PrimeGrid waiting to start.
https://1drv.ms/i/s!ArIvftV8roEagWiQWbJY3s-via0l

Pic 3: Graphics window maximized.

Pics 4 + 5: With the bloody osculations turned on.

https://1drv.ms/i/s!ArIvftV8roEagWuDWfUpwi1676K4

Pic 6: Hmm, while creating this post, Boinc went and grabbed a couple of PrimeGrid CPU tasks to do, haven't seen that in a long time.
https://1drv.ms/i/s!ArIvftV8roEagWz7vV6nt0CGvUMs

I think, if you look closely at the process explorer window in the pictures you will see how little of an impact the graphics really have. Now if someone can just get them to run on Smartphones and Tablets.....
... and still I fear, and still I dare not laugh at the Mad Man!

We're not testing with the screensaver, but with the standalone graphics window.
From Boinc Manager "Show Graphics" or what it says on the button in English.

. . OK thanks, that settles it for me. There's the rub you see, in my BOINC manager that button is greyed out. From memory there is an option during install to use BOINC graphics or not and I am rather sure that I chose "not". So I would guess that the only way to use them now would be to re-run the install. That would be too disruptive :(

. . So I guess I should go back to main and forget the testing, since it would seem my efforts would be of no use to the purpose.

After making the changes, did you do a project update from the manager? Otherwise, they won't take affect until Boinc makes a scheduler contact.

So far, all three of my computers display Graphics whenever I select a running SetiBeta task [8.07(alt)] as well as displaying the active Boinc/Seti screen saver.

An interesting effect happens when you display the graphics of 2 different tasks. Since they are not "synchronized" it makes you feel a little cross-eyed to watch them both at the same time. I wonder what watching four or five would feel like?
