Why kill yourself for the selfish criminal profits of the Tobacco Industry...?

The nicotine buzz, it's very addictive.

Just like the crack dealer who spikes his free samples.

I remember a study on male rats where they gave them all the all the crack they wanted and all the female rat they wanted. They didn't want female rat, just crack. Nicotine is more addictive.
Had an acquaintance who was an alcoholic. They quit, DT's and all. Thirty years later, without a drink, they tried to quit cancer sticks and failed three times. Said it was ten times worse.

It took me three attempts, and I needed chemical assistance (patches.) Due to the first two, I was able to remember all of the tricks nicotine withdrawal plays with your psyche, including depression about two months in, ie "Life is just futile if I can't inhale burning leaves again." Yes, major loss there. :^p

However, it worked, and I haven't relapsed in over a decade.

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin says he intentionally exposed kids to chicken pox instead of giving them vaccine

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin admitted in a radio interview on Tuesday that he intentionally exposed his nine children to chicken pox instead of giving them a vaccination.

Bevin told WKCT, a station in Bowling Green, Kentucky, that his children were "miserable," but they "all turned out fine."

Hope they sue his butt off when they turn 18 for giving them shingles!

Cigarette Smoking....

........
Understand that what I was posting, as others have posted, is that there appears to be some differences among races, gender's, regions, etc. regarding negative susceptibility to disease causing factors.

Repeating: DNA?

DNA plays some part for sure but DNA strengths are scattered even within single communities. (Even more so in our world of wider travel.)

There is of course different production methods across the world and different cultural uses of tobbaco along with environmental factors that have a part to play. (Even more so for areas of poor or illegal production.)

(Environmental may be for example food that is eaten or even moisture in the air.)

I admit I smoke. My granny smoked and my parents did. Probably why I became adicted.. :(

I wouldn't measure my grandmothers longevity against mine.

Smoking sucks for anyones health regardless of demographic or health.

In Britain you can't smoke in any public enclosed area.

As a smoker I agree with this even though it might be annoying at times :)

Alcohol is another issue. Britain recently dropped it's advised units per week from 21 to 14.

All those middle and upper classes downing a large glass or two of best wine per evening must suddenly be feeling like adicts...

DNA does have value. Certain communities and their spawn are resistant or immune to AIDS simply because of a peculiarity in DNA their forbears passed on from the period of the black death.

The DNA arguement is as complex as any other.

New York Suburb to Declare Measles Emergency, Barring Unvaccinated Children From Public

Rockland County, a suburb of New York City, will declare a state of emergency and bar minors who are unvaccinated against measles from being in public places, the latest effort to fight New York State’s worst measles outbreak in decades.

To contain a measles outbreak, a newly infected person has to work in tandem with state and local health authorities, providing information on when their symptoms began and whom they may have exposed during the nine days they are contagious.

Why humanity will perish
A quarter of people interviewed in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo last year during the ongoing Ebola outbreak believed the deadly virus wasn't real, according to a new study.

A survey was conducted last September, one month after the country declared its 10th outbreak of the Ebola virus disease. Researchers interviewed 961 adults in the cities of Beni and Butembo in the North Kivu province, which is at the epicenter of the active outbreak.

More than 25 percent of respondents said they believed rumors Ebola doesn't exist. Additionally, some 33 percent said they believed the outbreak was fabricated by authorities for financial gains, while 36 percent said they believed it was fabricated to destabilize the region. Nearly a fifth believed all three statements, according to the study published Wednesday in The Lancet Infectious Diseases journal.

Adding self-medication (as a cure to the Ebola virus, no less!) and witches' hunts to the mix of war, deep distrust in science or (more comprehensibly) their government might not spell the death of humanity, but the suffering and death of isolated populations in open air death camps of their own making certainly appear to be increasingly unavoidable, if no multi-level breakthroughs occur... What a terrible tragedy :(

More than 40 percent of new cases since the start of the year are of people who died in the community rather than in a treatment center, according to Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), which recently suspended its activities in the hotspots of Butembo and Katwa after its facilities were torched.

The local communities affected in the current outbreak have never before seen Ebola. It's also the first Ebola outbreak ever to occur in an active war zone, where violent conflict over the past two decades has killed and displaced thousands of people.

It isn't just Ebola, it is MMR, Polio and many other mysticism issues like global warming and flat earth and even fairies in the sky telling humans which other humans to kill because they do/don't believe.

BEIRA, Mozambique (AP) — Mozambican and international health workers raced on Monday to contain the outbreak of cholera in the cyclone-hit city of Beira and surrounding areas, where cases of the disease has jumped to more than 1,000.

There has been one death from cholera and of the reported cases 97 remain in treatment centers, with others released, Mozambique’s health director Ussein Isse announced. The new figures are an indication that cholera is spreading but is being brought under control, say health workers.

Almost 400 cases of the measles have been confirmed in 15 states this year as the disease nears record numbers since measles was declared eliminated almost two decades ago.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 387 measles cases have been confirmed from Jan. 1 to March 28, an increase of 73 cases last week alone.

A wide swath of Mozambique devastated by Cyclone Idai two weeks ago is now at a tipping point, humanitarian agencies said on Tuesday.

About two million people have seen their homes or crops destroyed, and cholera is spreading fast. Malaria, measles and starvation may follow unless help reaches enough people quickly.

Health officials are investigating an E. coli outbreak that has sickened 72 people across five states, federal health agencies said Friday.

The reported cases were in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement announcing the outbreak. Eight people have been hospitalized, the CDC added.

Last May, an elderly man was admitted to the Brooklyn branch of Mount Sinai Hospital for abdominal surgery. A blood test revealed that he was infected with a newly discovered germ as deadly as it was mysterious.

Doctors swiftly isolated him in the intensive care unit. The germ, a fungus called Candida auris, preys on people with weakened immune systems, and it is quietly spreading across the globe.
