Because, back then, Cops didn't pay for coffee and a buttered roll.
Bribe.

Exactly.

Former President Nixon, while taking his morning stroll in Manhattan, with Secret Service behind him.

The difference here where I met politicians is that they didn't have any Secret Service around!
I like that:)

One of the reasons that Celebrities and others prefer to either live, or spend a lot of time in New York City. Is that they can walk the streets, or dine in a restaurant, without being harassed or bothered.

Yes. New York City is special.

Anyone who was in Law Enforcement. Be it Police, Prosecutors, Defense Attorneys, et al. Understands the 'Civilian' ignorance of many Criminal Law Statutes.
Sounds like fake news.
<ed>or to put it this way, if I (my class) benefits, it is good and legal.

Physicist Veronika Hubeny was interrupted when she was trying to talk, as the only woman, participated in a panel discussion about the universe and string theory.
After she had been interrupted several times, a woman in the audience eventually got out and exclaimed: "Let her talk!"
The panel discussion, led by Jim Holt, philosopher and writer of the New Yorker magazine, took place at the World Science Festival in New York this weekend.

Since it's Sunday.
There are so many that read the US Constitution as it was the Bible.
Or the Quran.
The Quran has been untouched since it was written.
But the Bible has been revised many times over centuries.
Let's say. I'm very confused...

.
No. Just understanding that the Secular Rule of Law is Paramount, in a Lawful Society.
And should not be change for transient issues.

Here we haven't any wars, revolutions or civil wars for more than 200 years.
Why?
Because we change the Constitution over time.
First "edition" was about 1000 years ago.
Last revision are from 1809.
Some amendments later and the last 2009 that took effect 2011.

Only in Europe. (I think)
I walked our dog this evening and met a kid aged about 5 from the Middle East.
He wore a t shirt with the text "Chill Out Dude".
Yes. Written in American English:)
I have met his father who is practicing Islam.
Especially now when its Ramadan.
A very friendly person with very nice kids.

Supreme Court sides with The Slants, rules ban on offensive names is unconstitutional
In an 8-0 ruling...
The case centered on Oregon-based, Asian-American band The Slants, which was denied a trademark because its name was considered offensive. The band countered that the 70-year-old law at issue violates free-speech rights -- and Justice Samuel Alito, in the court’s opinion, agreed.
“The commercial market is well stocked with merchandise that disparages prominent figures and groups, and the line between commercial and non-commercial speech is not always clear, as this case illustrates. If affixing the commercial label permits the suppression of any speech that may lead to political or social ‘volatility,’ free speech would be endangered,” he wrote.

In the U.S., Offensive Speech. Even if it leads to "political or social ‘volatility'". Must, for all our freedoms, be protected.
Many in Europe and some here, will disagree.

LOL:)
That our Supreme Courts should even bother to rule in such a silly case never happens in the Nordic Countries.
I don't think any country in Europe. Not even Russia:)

Left Wing defined 'Hate Speech', is also protected?
Hate speech is often followed by hate actions.

In Europe, they use hired vehicles. In the US, they use guns.

BTW: Off on Vacation for a couple of weeks.

No. All types of Hate Speech are considered a criminal offense.
Offensive names are called insults and can sometimes be considered a criminal offense.
But that's very very rare.

Have a nice vacation:)

Swear words.
A thing that very much differ the US at least to the Nordic countries
Most of them refer to the devil.
Not sexually like in the US.
A problem though it's that the US have exported your "fine" language to us.
Not lately I heard a young muslim kid aged about 7 I think shouting "You MF".

Why is it. That when you first hear a Swear Word in another language. You never forget it.

True Clyde.
The best way to insult persons is to learn swear words.
The sooner the better.
Just kidding:)
But Denmark have picked a lot your "fine" language .
And Estonian trying to swear in Lithuanian.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zwFgAY7f1k
And Russia of course:)
https://svenska.yle.fi/artikel/2014/05/06/en-kurs-i-ryska-svordomar

From the first of July, swear words are forbidden in Russian media. The ban applies to movies, news media, television shows and theater shows. Books containing swear words should be provided with a warning text. Those who violate the law are at risk of fines; private individuals may pay about 50 euros while organizations and companies can forge nearly EUR 1000.

In the small border town of Beebe Plain there is an unusual house for sale. Armed 24-hour security includes whether you want or not.
The nearly 650 square meter house was built in 1782 and is today divided into five small apartments.
What's unique is that half of the house is in the United States and others in Canada.
VIDEO:) https://www.svt.se/nyheter/utrikes/halva-huset-star-i-kanada-och-halva-i-usa-nu-forsoker-han-salja-sitt-ovanliga-barndomshem
Brian and his wife Joan DuMoulin want to sell the house so they can move closer to their kids and grandchildren in Ontario.
But it's not easy - for example, the person who moves in should have dual citizenship.

See any border? See any 'checkpoint'? See any border guards?
Excepting a few, well travelled locations. There is not real border between Canada and the USA. Canadians and Americans just walk or drive between the Countries to shop or visit. No need for Passports or Visas.
It is called, possibly correctly. The largest unsecured border in the world.

HeHe:)
Actually there is border village in Belgium/Netherlands that have the same "problem"
The Belgian part includes 22 exclaves within Dutch territory. The exclaves, in turn, surround seven Dutch areas. Belgian territory also surrounds an eighth Dutch area near Ginhoven.
Baarle with the border marked on the pavement.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baarle
The line of the border means that some buildings straddle both countries. This is the case for a branch of Zeeman. For these properties, the voordeurregel (literally: "front door rule") policy applies: their address lies in the country that contains their front door. The exception is a house on Loveren street with both Belgian (#2) and Dutch (#19) front doors. For convenience, every house number plaque shows a flag

Have you ever been to the tourist hotspots mentioned in the article?
Even Hard CASH Spending Tourists going there start to react.
I think in the US you would be arrested by the police if Hard CASH Spending Tourists ran naked in the White House garden or urinated on some Washington monuments.
