If you have AT&T they offer a free app, AT&T Call Protect. It really cut down the calls that I have to block manually.

Would that be for landline or cellular? Or both?

I think he's talking about Cellular Service.

You're probably right.....
I missed the part about it being an 'app'.
Was thinking it was a service they offered.

Yes it's only for cell service.

Message 1899976 - Posted: 9 Nov 2017, 5:16:34 UTC

[Update:]

Just about 25 days on the CPR CallBlocker V5000, and unwanted calls have dropped approx. 90% from where they were when I was using Nomorobo. I'm getting the random unwanted call, now, about once every couple days. These random calls are coming in with peoples' names that are unfamiliar to me, and are NO LONGER on my Area Code and Prefix; BUT, are on my Area Code and surrounding Prefixes. I received ONE final call from my Area Code and Prefix about two weeks ago, and the V5000 blocked it so fast that even my online Vonage Dashboard does NOT reflect the call came in. However; the Caller ID did get listed on my phone's display of Incoming Calls. So, the call had to have rung at least one time to the phone to obtain the ID...

This is DEFINITELY the BEST $90 I've spent on phone security! :-) I FINALLY feel like I've got FULL control back of my Home Phone, again. :-) :-D

If once every couple of days is down 90%, you were getting a hell of a lot more than I EVER have.

I still have approx. 30+ Numbers blocked in Vonage; BUT, now, none of them are my Area Code and Prefix. Whereas; a few weeks ago, I had 15 of those in my Vonage! :-O

Gary,

LOTS of Seniors in my area! (NOT to disparage Seniors; but, they seem to be the MAIN target of these Scam calls...)

[Update:]

The CPR CallBlocker V5000 is now up to 19 Total "Manually" Blocked Numbers. 7 of these are recommended Keyed blocks to add to the 5000 Automated Blocks that the device is programmed with, and the other 12 are random Scam Calls with Spoofed Caller ID Names, and numbers with my Area Code and surrounding Prefixes close to my own Prefix. The 7 keyed Blocks are for "Name Unavailable"/"Unknown Number" Calls, "00" International Prefix Calls, "Rogue VoIP" Calls, "11"-and my Area Code Calls, "Area Code and Prefix" Calls, and such...

I can't recommend the V5000 Device HIGHLY enough! This thing is AWESOME!!! :-) (Though, the "Rogue VoIP" Blocking seems interesting. How does is know what is Rogue, and what is Valid???)

OH, and just prior to installing the V5000 Device, I did receive a Scam Call with the Caller ID Name of Vxxxxxxxxxxx , where the "xxxxxxxxxxx" is a LOOOOONG string of numbers. The Spoofed Number was my Area Code and a Local Prefix. I DID NOT answer it, and DID add it to the Vonage Block.

Message 1901475 - Posted: 17 Nov 2017, 9:07:08 UTC

I received a supposed call from lady who actually left a message on my answering machine. Claimed to be from National Grid ( who is my electricity provider ) saying they had a problem with my delivery charges. Left her name number and a reference number. Well to say that it stunk to high heaven is an under statement.
I got last months bill out and called the 1 800 number. After wading through many robot prompts I finally got a real person. Told her of the phone message and she confirmed that's yes it was a scam, And they had received many calls on it.
Most robot calls wont leave a message. But don't count on it.

I guess if one call one hook the victim a week doesn't work then five calls in a day will. Answering machine had 5 calls at one hours intervals "regarding a security breach on your" XYZ account. Yes, a security breach you want to do.

I will probably jinx my self by posting this but... it has been too quiet on all my phone lines (land, virtual, cell, etc) for 6 day in-a-row now, not a single junk call!

Has not been this quiet in several years that I can think of with out at least one junk call every other day.

My scam calls have SIGNIFICANTLY dropped!!! :-)

My parents' line, on the other hand, (still on Nomorobo), is picking up in magnitude... They; however, refuse to switch from Nomorobo to CPR CallBlocker V5000... :-(

I haven't had more than one Scam Call today, and more than two in a week... :-)

I haven't had a call from "tech support" wanting to "fix" my computer in probably over a year. For awhile, they were calling almost every day. That was the only real scam call that ever annoyed me. Those really bugged me. They had a sinister feel to them.

I haven't had a call from an unknown (to me) number in over a week. Well, I did have one today, but it turned out to be legit.

Oh sucks. I missed the call and found this message on my cell phone.
