Eric got the title wrong. It should read "Walnut and Brazil Nut get trained" Or "The Raccoon Whisperer"? Did you hear the snarl at the end of the video? That was Macademia Bobo reminding me that he had not received a peanut recently enough. So, of course, I reinforced his nasty little snarl. Makes you wonder, doesn't it, exactly who is training whom? |

3 Bears Break Into Colorado Restaurant, Find No Porridge The salami, however, was juuuuust right. They couldn’t find porridge or, for that matter, Goldilocks. Yep a Mama bear and Her two cubs, the owner suffered around $1,000.00 in damages, and says the bears can't be blamed for starving, they need calories, there is a video at the link. “The bears need help and we need to figure out how to help them,†DeSousa told “Inside Edition.†“We moved into the woods knowing full well they existed, and the idea they should die because they’re starving is ridiculous.†The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

A site dedicated to my love for the smartest urban wild animal, the Raccoon. We humans have a lot to learn about raccoons and we should because every day we come across them. There are thousands of raccoons living in our cities. We need to understand them and get to know how they live. http://zumanetworks.com/baby-raccoons-are-cute/ http://zumanetworks.com/baby-raccoons-are-cute/ My friends, love is better than anger, Hope is better than fear, Optimism is better than despair, So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic, And we’ll change the world. --- Byron Leigh Hatch |

Ang, the offer to help with the garage is still open! On an other matter, I like to pay it forward. After WW2 my family send care packets to Poland. I would like to help with regards to a family in or around Arecibo. Can you or Eric put me in touch with someone? Flat rate shipping via USPS makes this a great deal. As we don't have raccoons here, this is the next best thing, squirrels and their appeal is basically similar, they have proved to be intelligent and "eat with their paws". I have seen them raid the park bins and somewhere have a picture of one eating pizza Now having spent a year on the Isle of Wight where I only saw squirrels from the kitchen window and never on my daily walk, it is interesting that at this time of year the park is literally teeming with them, unfortunately grey not red, but they still appeal. This one was sitting on one of the community gardens raised bed where we have just planted lot of saffron bearing crocus bulbs, hence the green netting. It seemed unfazed by me talking several pictures. This was one of the many in the park the next day, pausing from digging to enjoy a snack. |

Ang, the offer to help with the garage is still open! Hi Uli, What a kind offer! The best way to help, however, it to make a donation to the Red Cross and earmark it for Puerto Rico relief. Thanks! |

It's the time of year when they are burying food for the winter. The little buggers are digging up all our flower boxes and beds on the patio. Last year I made the mistake of buying squirrel food. All they did was dig holes and bury it. Not putting any out this year, unless a foot of snow. LOL! Our California squirrels are too lazy to dig holes. I pulled out some spent rhubarb leaves the other day and found a squirrel cache of peanuts right underneath one of the leaves. No digging involved - just push the peanuts under a big leaf. |

I don't know if we have any squirrels out here in the high desert, but We have a few demented chipmunks, that dart across the roads now and then, sadly no places for clowns to hide at, since we have no sewers for them to hide in. Hehehe, love it. Do Raccoons stash any food away as not having the winters we do I would have thought there was no need? No. Raccoons do not stash food away. They eat everything in sight right away. Impulse control is not one of their cognitive strengths. |

Ang, the offer to help with the garage is still open! The Red Cross will use any money you send as they see fit, whether or not your "earmark" it for a specific emergency. I would recommend not using the Red Cross. Find a specific charity that is devoted to helping with the emergency in Puerto Rico. If you're a big fan of the Red Cross then I'm sorry, but it was reported a few years ago that money donated for (I think it was) Katrina was not being used solely for Katrina. Try this one: United for Puerto Rico ~Sue~ |

Yes, I didn't want the Red Cross route, evenso I think they are a worthwhile Charity. I will look into Chris's and Suzie's suggestion. Pluto will always be a Planet to me. |
