A probation Officer on probation. funny if not so serious.Cops can do no wrong. Frankly why didn't they charge him with statutory rape for the 14 year old? He should be on the sex perverts list. |

So because she served no time for assault, the cop was allowed to get away with statuary rape of a 14 year old. Aren't cops supposed to prevent such crimes? |

Rules set in the 1800's are still the rule today. The pitchforks are starting to come out. It is ironic that one of the best and influential (although unfortunately not influential enough everywhere) police departments was founded in the early 1800s. I recently stumbled across Sir Robert Peel's Nine Principles of Policing, all of 187 years old, and still as fresh and relevant as the day they were written. Perhaps they are even too relevant, in fact, as so many of the problems that we see with modern policing, including many that have been discussed in this thread, seem to be caused by ignoring them. Are they even taught in police academies any more? (For those who haven't head of him, Sir Robert Peel was the founder of the London Metropolitan Police, considered to be the first modern police force and one of the oldest in terms of continuity from its founding. London police are informally called "bobbies" in his honor... or sometimes "peelers" by those who find themselves on the wrong side of the law.) _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sir Robert Peel's Nine Principles of Policing (1829)

In American Culture. If you live in, or police some neighborhoods. You are continuously hearing gunshots. Resulting in multiple people shot or killed, especially over the weekend. This Is in addition to people stabbed and bludgeoned. Strangely, when I first read the list, #4 "The degree of cooperation of the public that can be secured diminishes, proportionately, the necessity for the use of physical force and compulsion in achieving police objectives." stood out. Even with all our modern technology including genetic identification and other forensics, the U.S. homicide clearance rate is 64.1%, but half a century ago it was 90%. Unfortunately from decades of systemic abuse, the communities with the highest murder rate just don't trust the police anymore and won't co-operate and help them solve crimes. There are of course other factors, but this is a major one. "Snitches get stitches" etc. So, the police militarize to deal with the violent inner cities, which increases police-to-citizen violence and brutality, which makes citizens even less co-operative, which leads to more unsolved murders, which leads to more militarization ad nauseum. |

Seriously, if we followed those rules how would we control the abhorent, incarcerate the guilty, and utilize state-sponsored murder to satiate our need barbaric need for blood justice? You really didn't think that one through, did you? |

The communities with the highest crime and murder rates are terrified of the Drug Dealers and Murderer's in their midst. We are at a twenty-year low in the violent crime rate in the U.S. There were drug dealers and murderers fifty years ago too, and very almost as many of them: Yet the police were solving fifty percent more murders than they do now. A probation Officer on probation. funny if not so serious. Found a second account with a different result. http://ktla.com/2017/09/20/l-a-county-probation-officer-accused-of-sex-abuse-pleads-guilty-to-assaulting-girls-in-juvenile-hall/ Oscar Calderon Jr., 33, was immediately sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty in a downtown courtroom to two counts of assault under color of authority, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. This sounds correct. Have no idea where Rawstory came up with it's fake news. They link to a story in the LA Times that says jail. -- KTLA and LA Time both owned by Tribune Media. Prosecutors accused the deputy probation officer of making sexual overtures and inappropriately touching four teens inside Camp Scudder in Santa Clarita. Calderon was arrested in January and charged with four counts of assault under color of authority and two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child. Prosecutors said that the victims ranged in age from 15 to 18 and that the abuse began in 2014.But why did they let him off without the "lewd and lascivious acts with a child" which would make him a sex offender? |

But why did they let him off without the "lewd and lascivious acts with a child" which would make him a sex offender? It was part of the 'plea deal'. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-probation-officer-sexual-assault-20170920-story.html Calderon’s attorney, Rodrigo Ambrosio, said he was satisfied with the terms of the plea deal. Calderon will not have to register as a sex offender because he did not plead to the charges accusing him of lewd acts with children, Ambrosio said. Another thing... Why is this in the 'cop' thread? 'Probation officers' are not 'police'. This scumwad didn't have to plead to the 'lewd acts with children' charges because they work for the county government... just like the prosecutors. 'Probation officers' are not 'police'. In California they are. https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displayText.xhtml?chapter=4.5.&part=2.&lawCode=PEN&title=3. |

'Probation officers' are not 'police'. Dang.... You all's list is longer than ours here in Texas.... But still, a peace officer is not exactly the same as police officer... exactly... but whatever... My main point was that this sleezebag did not get put on the pervert list because of the plea deal. Just to get a conviction and clear the case, the prosecutor was willing to accept guilty pleas on everything except the charges what would have put the scumbucket on the 'sex offender list'... *Those* charges were then dropped as part of the plea deal. A Judge agreed to it. Perp gets 1 year in prison, 5 years probation (snicker -- *HIS* probation officer is just gonna LOVE him...). Thats it. It might be interesting to get rid of 'plea deals' and force every case to go to a jury trial... but that would clog up the court system. A 'speedy trial' would then have to be defined as 'Soon!(tm) (sometime between now and the heat death of the universe)'. https://youtu.be/iY57ErBkFFE #Texit Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016. Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power. |

‘This is crazy,’ sobs Utah hospital nurse as cop roughs her up, arrests her for doing her job Utah police officer Jeff Payne, who dragged screaming nurse Alex Wubbels, is fired and his supervisor, Lieutenant James Tracy, was demoted to officer. Detective Jeff Payne was also fired from his part-time job as a paramedic in September. Now I hope that the nurse sues him for all he has because he deserves it. Cheers. |

Man shot by Chicago police officer is awarded $44.7 million A federal jury awarded a Chicago man a record-breaking $44.7 million Thursday after finding that a Chicago police officer shot him in the head after a night of heavy drinking and that the troubled Police Department enabled the off-duty patrolman's violent behavior. |
