That would have resulted in impeachment -in other words, kicking him out of office first. Nixon resigned to avoid it, then Ford pardoned to avoid any charges being brought. (If I missed a detail, I'm too young to know from direct memory.) |

A sitting President cannot be indicted for Criminal Acts Absolutely. The President does not enjoy the protection given to members of Congress. And SCOTUS ruled on that point against Nixon. That's why the office of the special prosecutor could do work. <ed>Also why Paula Jones could proceed with her suit. |

I knew Nixon resigned and was pardoned, but I thought he was indicted while still in office. What you say makes sense. I was pretty young, too, but "Watergate" is etched in my brain. Our local independent tv news channel had 5 minute news recaps once an hour in the evening, and it seemed like that's all I ever heard. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/fed69.asp Federalist # 77:
http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/fed77.asp It would seem that it was the intent of the Founding Fathers that the President would be immune from CRIMINAL prosecution *while in office*. Of course, Civil Court cases are another matter entirely, though perhaps it should not be. https://youtu.be/iY57ErBkFFE #Texit Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016. Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power. |

Maybe the 'Russian Reset' was intended to provide a dacha in the Urals for Bubba and Hiliary to retire in the event she lost and was indicted.........":D "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

Here's a scenario, Hiliary loses, Obama pardons for what's known currently(publicly). Obama leaves office, then the FBI(whose agents are REALLY REALLY pissed off by the hit they have taken to their reps) unleashes the real dirt on both her and Bubba(money laundering, charitable fraud, bribery, treason etc.etc.etc., .............alas, just an old Patriot's pipe dream......the truly evil never pay for their sins. MK, I know what Plubis thought he wanted, but they failed to write the document to match their thoughts. They only gave a pass to congress. Document itself is silent on the executive and judicial branches. I'm certain if POTUS did a murder he would be handcuffed, booked, chrged. If it was a jaywalking, doubt it. |

Kong, you can't go back and start quoting from the federalist papers, especially in these forums. Those words were written by old white men with wigs, wooden teeth and owned slaves; therefore, they are no longer relevant. Besides, today's liberal no longer follows the intent of the law. Today's liberal only goes by the letter of the law. Today's liberal bends the letter of the law because in their minds, words change meanings based on what they think they need to force on everybody else today. And in many cases, just ignores the letter of the law if she's been in a position of authority before and/or if she's on the verge of being placed in another position of authority. -- I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

What I find most interesting is the UP NEXT section. It is amazing how much google/youtube knows about how a person thinks and how it will provide search results that give confirmation bias to those thought patterns. Of course they are only interested in maximizing visits which maximizes their advertising revenue, but still it is better that a report from a shrink. |
