Could you try uploading an unzipped 32-bit version of your program? Just to make sure it isn't the compressed .exe within the zip file that's causing a problem.

Yep, here's a 32-bit exe.
Thanks for looking, Jeff ...

Nope, this time McAfee actually blocked the download. The trojan it supposedly detected is different, though: Artemis!9F2DFD266883. Again, not found in their threat database, however.

Really confidence-inspiring. I used their automated email submission tool to report the false positive, and it told me it's "genericrxad-us!f52088ed0710".

Yeah, that's the one I mentioned I was getting trying to scan or extract from the zip file. So, it did change with the uncompressed .exe, but still thinks it's found a trojan signature, albeit one which doesn't seem to be in their database. Go figure!

At this point, anyone who wishes to is welcome to come grab a copy and use it. If you do put it to use, I'd appreciate a quick note either here or in PM.

. . That "false positive" has gotten worse, now my AV software is saying the .zip file is/has a trojan and will not let me download it :(

. . <sigh>

Jeez, just can't catch a break here. I finally get it to where Defender/Essentials don't complain, now Avast and McAfee do ...

. . Welcome to the world of computing :)

Just tried something else in compiling.
Perhaps 1.02f will be the magic one! Use quoted link.
Again, Defender shows clean ...

. . OK, now Avast is OK with it, that d/l'd just fine.

It should be possible to tell the AV programme it's OK to download.
Got to love how these programmes get all worked up over files such as these, but have troubles stopping the really damaging ones.

Just for grins, here's a copy of this that was compiled 64 bit instead of 32 bit. Dunno if it will help, but maybe someone can take a peek and let me know.

No issues detected by McAfee here on QOpt_64.exe.

OK, Thanks! Maybe a 64-bit compile is the key. Wonder how many folks that leaves out?

Well, my daily driver is 32-bit, but I wasn't actually planning on using your program (or Mr. Kevvy's) since I have my own VLAR rescheduler. I was just testing the download since I happen to have McAfee.

Could you try uploading an unzipped 32-bit version of your program? Just to make sure it isn't the compressed .exe within the zip file that's causing a problem.

. . I was wondering that myself.

But if you notice above, Jeff had the 32 bit exe only fail also, where the 64 bit version didn't.

Well, I just tried it on my old ThinkPad, which runs AVG Free, and it's clean there, both the zip file and the standalone .exe.

Well, between the three different ways to get it that I've posted links for, I think everyone that wants it can find a way. If not, let me know and I'll think of something else.
Thanks all, for the help!

64 bit seems o.k.

Ed F

Edit: but it does nothing except flash a blue DOS box for a sec.

There are some prerequisites, and I'm not sure you have them:
1. Win 7/8.x/10
2. BOINC Ver 7 (I think a lot of your boxes are still on 6)
3. Mr. Kevvy's GUPPIRescheduler v 0.51 installed and working
4. Lunatics optimized apps installed and working

If you don't have it, here's a link to the read_me for this, as contained in the distribution ZIP file ....

ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 didn't find any malware but from manual scan I see you use UPX and many UPX Compressed files are flagged "by default" by some Antiviruses

From ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 Log (the only line) after manual scan:
My Documents\Downloads\Compressed\QOpt 1.02f.zip » ZIP » QOpt_1_02f/QOpt.exe » UPX v13_m14 » BAT2EXE » - archive damaged

Have tried it both with and without UPX. Given how small this all is, there's clearly no reason it needs to be used, so I'll leave it off from now on.

McAfee seems to be happy with it now. No problems downloading the zip file, scanning it, extracting all the files, or rescanning both extracted executables.

The previous QOpt_64.exe was fine with Kaspersky. Now the new 64 exe and zip with no UPX compression is flagged as Trojan infected by Kasperksy.
