"Jean-Claude Juncker said the lack of a "permanent structure" resulted in money being wasted on missions."

Drunker annoyed about the waste as he wants it - tax free of course :-)

Anyway I thought Europe had SHAPE?

Drunker, please note the AP = Allied Powers!

And what is the Salary and Expense Accounts, of those running these 'Anti-Smoking' Projects?

Ah they're paid from the Tobacco taxes :-)

Oh dear.
Now you are talking like an accountant.
I wonder what Trump would do if he was an EU commissary.

He would rename it The Trump Anti-Smoking Initiative. And It's Offices would be in the New - Most Beautiful - 'Trump Edifice' Building.
Built by Trump, of course.

Sounds good.
Can we replace Juncker with Trump if Trump doesn't win the election?

Juncker's conclusion to his State of Union speech: -

"CONCLUSION

Honourable Members,

I am as young as the European project that turns 60 next years in March 2017.

I have lived it, worked for it, my whole life.

My father believed in Europe because he believed in stability, workers’ rights and social progress.

Because he understood all too well that peace in Europe was precious – and fragile.

I believe in Europe because my father taught me those same values.

But what are we teaching our children now? What will they inherit from us? A Union that unravels in disunity? A Union that has forgotten its past and has no vision for the future?

Our children deserve better.

They deserve a Europe that preserves their way of life.

They deserve a Europe that empowers and defends them.

They deserve a Europe that protects.

It is time we – the institutions, the governments, the citizens – all took responsibility for building that Europe. Together."

Hmm, DID his father teach him how to avoid paying taxes to empower himself & sod the children?

What a pathetic speech.
I have never met a person in Europe that consider themself Europian.
Only people that call themself Swedes, Britons, Germans, French and 40 more nations.
What Europian values are Juncker talking about?

Oh. Anyone knows the EU anthem?
I didn't.

Beethoven is a good choice for an anthem.

I don't know Janne, but when you find out, can you let us & the rest of Europe know. :-)

Edit: Anthem, as soon as the first bars played I couldn't help but think "Clockwork Orange" :-)

It's Beethoven's Ode to Joy that remind me of Clockwork Orange as well.
Ode to Joy is a very powerful song.
But the lyrics...
Joy, beautiful sparkle of the gods,
Daughter of Elysium!

Well, that was some movie trailer... :(

If you want MY favorite performance of what the author D. F. Jones describes in his novel 'Colossus and the Crab (1977)' as the piece of music that best represents the human spirit when Colossus played it at Dr. Forbin's funeral, try this link:

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

After all the lip flapping over Article 50, we get this...

...no Brexit talks until December 2017...

...meanwhile, at the Temple of € a new High Priest is appointed.

Didn't I say that some months ago, in different words of course, but something like...
"No meaningful talks until after the German and French elections."

Sturgeon: Second independence referendum could be next year

Oh dear Mr Snark definitely a fish out of water

Since whoever wrote that article thinks that Braveheart was William Wallace, I wouldn't be too confident about any of its other assertions.

Yes you did. Just proves what I've been saying for the past few years: - The electorate are much smarter than the politicians think.

The Pfennig has dropped

"European leaders are divided, their voters sceptical.

Central and Eastern Europe want powers back from Brussels. Northern nations view the south as a eurozone liability. Mediterranean countries balk at German austerity edicts."

Ah Yalta, where Europe ended up dissected.

71 years later...

A Soviet bloc within the EU bloc?

An expansion of NATO EU Army?

""Do you think [the politicians] have really thought this through?" I was asked. I remember making a bad joke: "President Sarkozy thinks he's Napoleon, and David Cameron is channelling his inner Tony Blair.""

...hmm, wasn't that mentioned a few times on the series of Europe threads :-)
