A question for Del-boy... ...where did the £300,000 inheritance cash come from? Calls to resign snowball However if anyone expects this Conservative to resign is living in cloud cuckoo land. |

Doesn't matter what The Left believes about taxing to relieve 'Income Inequality'. Very well reasoned and stated. But the first 2 sentences are exactly why a "Flat Tax" plan will never happen. Both sides have too much to lose. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

Doesn't matter what The Left believes about taxing to relieve 'Income Inequality'. Oh dear. Here we have to pay tax for every penny you earn. Roughly 30% if you earn less than 43,000 euros per year. If higher there is a progressive taxation. Then we have VAT that is 25%. It doesn't matter what goverment we have. Left, Right or Liberal, the taxation remains the same. Sometimes I think that "Skatteverket" (Swedish IRS) are ruling our country instead of voted politicians. |

With all that we have seen on TV & in the newspapers, this is a clear & intelligent response. Jeremy Corbyn Leader of the Opposition It is now clear that the Prime Minister has misled the public about his personal involvement in offshore tax avoidance schemes. It took five weasel-worded statements in five days for the Prime Minister to admit that he has personally profited from an undeclared Caribbean tax haven investment deal. After years of calling for tax transparency and attacking complex offshore tax arrangements as “morally wrongâ€, the Prime Minister has been shown to have personally benefited from exactly such a secretive offshore investment. His determination to conceal that arrangement over many years raises serious questions over public trust in his office and his willingness to be straight with the public. It is extraordinary that after pocketing the profits from his offshore investment trust, the Prime Minister was lobbying the European Union against transparency in the ownership of trusts. Once again the message has gone out that there is one rule for the wealthy and another for the rest of us. Dodging taxes is a moral issue. It is taking money for schools and hospitals out of the pockets of working people. But the revelations of industrial scale tax dodging and corruption from Panama haven’t just raised issues about the Prime Minister’s personal integrity. They also highlight his Government’s failure to take decisive action to crack down on tax avoidance and evasion. Government connivance with tax havens and refusal to take serious action against tax avoidance and evasion is sucking tax revenues from our public finances. Tolerance of tax avoidance and tax havens, and inaction on tax evasion, is denying funds to the public purse and leads directly to cuts in services and benefits that are hurting millions of people in Britain. The Prime Minister has lost the trust of the British people. He must now give a full account of all his private financial dealings and make a statement to Parliament next week. Only complete openness from the Prime Minister, and decisive action against tax avoidance and evasion, can now deal with the issues at the heart of this scandal. Statement made earlier today. |

Thanks. With what we have already seen this week, there is one important issue missing from that statement... ...baying for Cameron's resignation. What I'm inferring from that statement is that Corbyn is not a fool. Much better for the Labour Party to keep Cameron in position until he steps down in 2019. With the gaffs already made during his premiership, gives time for Labour to rebuild the party while at the same time to continue putting the PM on the spot. That will not be hard because a leopard never changes its spots :-) |

I'm both amused and depressed when seeing politicians in interviews when they are trying to explain their dodgy businesses. First their face goes red and then they are trying to explain it to us that no wrongdoing has been done. For heavens sake. The very idea with offshore companies is to pay less tax. If the politician is also a finance minister and in the same time tell us how to behave when being taxed... (foul language from taxpayers!) |

I'm both amused and depressed when seeing politicians in interviews when they are trying to explain their dodgy businesses. Like this? The problem for the prime minister is political image. He hasn't done anything illegal but it is perception that matters. I've said this before on this board, "Once perception reaches a certain point, decisions are made, right or wrong". There's no turning back, the perception now is that he's a rat that cannot see the ship sinking! |

What greed of power isn't the same as greed of money? Are there any honest politicians? Any that have the cojones to say, "Yes I avoid tax like everyone else and I make no apologies for being successful doing so." |

WHAT? The Leaders of the 'World' have feet of clay? My guess is that Leaders of the 'World' are also shocked. That we common citizens objects to this abuse of tax payers money must come as a total surprise to politicians. |

Are there any honest politicians? Have you ever heard a politician answer a simple question with Yes or No without hesitating? |

I think it's very funny that Reno is the biggest tax haven in the world ...One best understand what kind of haven it is ... http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2013-12-18/wealthy-n-y-residents-escape-tax-with-trusts-in-nevada It doesn't hide corporate taxes, like normal tax havens. It doesn't hide US Federal income tax obligations either. It hides State personal income and inheritance tax obligations. The US Federal inheritance tax exemption is now rather big. But Nevada and Texas are the only two states that do not share tax data with the IRS and the other 48 states. So put your money in Nevada and just lie to the IRS (and your own state tax man). But if you don't want to lie to the IRS, you could just create 100 trusts or however many you need to keep each below the large Federal inheritance tax exemption. This might work because each of those trusts is a different tax ID number, er person per SCOTUS. Now if you are a foreigner, imagine you moved your money out of your high taxation country, dropped it into the safest monetary haven worldwide, and won't have to pay taxes to the US or Nevada and your country. That is millions of dollars more for your spoiled kids and grand-kids. Have you broken the law? Probably not, you have just avoided the tax man. Should it exist? No Nevada needs to share data with the IRS and he other 49 states. That way they will know how much money is made and how much money is being secreted away. So you won't be able to escape your own tax man. |
