That's not going to help much against the name she sees in her Seti screen saver though as that name is registered in Your Account here at Seti, and with each scheduler contact stored in the client_state.xml file, from where the graphics application or BOINC screen saver gets that information.

Hmm yeah I was thinking of the name that BOINC runs as when it starts for some reason.
Most of what I said still applies. It would just need to be set on the project account page.

I know where the confusion comes from, the first time you register at project forums, the Windows login name is automatically filled in as your user name. Hence why a lot of people walk around with "Administrator" as their name.

But yes, changing the name in the Other account info on https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/home.php (Your Account) will do that. It's just that Linda is apparently hesitant to let go of the Latte.

I know that the name here can be fooled into being completely empty, but I'm not sure how to do that. Ozzfan walked around for a long time with a blank name, perhaps that he's willing to lift a veil on how he did that. If he reads this, of course. ;-)

I do not want to explain what "Second Life" is,

NO worry's a lot of people here would know what second life is :)

Weird problem with the beautiful 'SETI at Home' Screen Saver :(

I have my settings set so that, if there is no keyboard input for 3 minutes, BOINC can assume my PC is not in use and resume processing. I have the 'SETI at Home' Screen Saver time set for 5 minutes. This then SHOULD cause the screen saver to appear on-screen after 5 minutes, right?

But, here is what happens: After 5 minutes the Screen Saver pops on-screen for maybe 1/2 second and then vanishes. After the 2nd 5 minute period it appears on-screen and runs fine.

Any idea what may be wrong?

Oh, BTW, I changed my User name! It was SO SO easy! There was no need to 'hack' into the .scr code. Thankfully, the GENIUS who created the .scr file allowed the User name rhat appears to be very easily changed to watever. :)

My new name is now "River Song." For those unaware of its origin, she is a character out of "Doctor Who" and is dear to my heart. In 'Second Life' I use it in a 'title' over my head. The title says: "Linda Latte - River Songs SL ALT." :)

Any idea how to fix the screen saver problem?

The first setting blank the screen is set by default to 1 min move it to never and see if that fixes it

YES, I do know the Doctora REAL name !! If you promise you won't breathe a word I will tell you, OK? His REAL pic is all over the net, and he is wearing a disguise in it. :) His real name, on panet Earth, is ALFRED E. NEWMAN ! :)

If I go to my screen saver settings, I can choose from all std Win 7 'savers,' including BOINC, which is stored in a different file. BUT BUT, I cannot change the TIME! The time setting is dimmed out. :( I can't 'un-dim' it. :(

Is there a first AND a second setting? How does that work?

I notice, if I right-click the screen, click personalize, and BOINC Screen Saver, I can then click 'Settings' and see a screen called "BOINC Screensaver Configuration." What is THAT all about, and what should the settings be? I never touched them. What should the settings be?
