Hello guys, I installed Boinc on Linux Mint 17.3 a week ago or so. It worked fine until yesterday. It started automatically when my PC is starting. So far so good. Since yesterday it always displays a message: Unable to connect to core client. I have to kill boincmanager (htop => kill boincmanager). When I restart boincmanager it works. Any solutions? Thank you! |

It is possible that something changed in your start up routine through which BOINC Manager now starts before the BOINC client does. That's when it cannot connect to the client, as it isn't there. Exiting and restarting BOINC Manager may just have given the client time to start up. Whereas in Windows (and OS X I think) BOINC Manager starts the client, in Linux the client and manager are started separately. And so the client should be started first, then the manager. |

Thanks for your reply. Even when I start Boinc Manager with some delay (around 60 to 90 seconds) it doesn't work. I deinstalled Boinc (sudo aptitude purge boinc) and didn't reinstall it since then.. I was annoyed because of that... |

I now tried it again and installed Boinc another time. It works! I didn't change anything (ok only updates) and now it works. Weird. But many thanks for your help guys! :) |
