Tools for building SIBs. Looked for definition of SIB- I could not find one that fits the tool. But since I have no idea what you intended by SIB's I cannot rule it out with absolute certainty. It is not for scale-index-base byte, South Indian Bank,, Systems in Blue School of International Business, Special Investigation Branch or Self-injurious behaviour, |

Tools for building SIBs. Oh, I should have made that connection. The S is correct, and IB is optional. |

How about rigging tools for miniature ship model building. Used to string and set the sail and mast riggings. I might be a minute too late....... "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

anniet I was about to give it to you, but Jaundice came in with the full name. It is a miniature ship rigging tool. It is used for more than just adjusting the tension. As Jaundice describes it is for setting the strings, sails and mast rigging. The winner is JaundiceEye! PM Sent |

Thank you Carlos. I don't know if this has been used before, if so I have another ready. They are very specific to one job, one time only. That job must be in the answer. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

When space shuttle Atlantis blasts off on the final flight to Hubble, the astronauts will be carrying 180 special tools, and 116 of them were designed just for this mission, which involves tricky repairs to two science instruments that were never intended to be fixed in space. Photos: 1. (left) The EVA pistol grip tool is a high-torque, low-speed, microprocessor-controlled power tool used by spacewalking astronauts. It greatly reduces hand fatigue while astronauts work in pressurized spacesuits and helps reduce the amount of time it takes to loosen and tighten fasteners. (right) The washer extraction tool is used by spacewalking astronauts to secure washers that would otherwise float away in space. |

The Admiral for the Win! I actually had the opportunity to handle the washer extraction tool at a meet and greet with Matt Mountain, Director of the Space Telescope program at that time(2010)on the occasion of the Member's premier of the IMAX Hubble movie here at the Museum of Nature and Science. The faucet like handle on the washer tool is for ease of use when wearing those thick EVA suit gloves. [EDIT] PM sent. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |
