Maine Coon kittens...........
From birth to only 8 weeks old.
Look at the size of their paws........you know these darlings are gonna grow up to be LARGE cats one day.
Maine Coons grow rapidly as a kitten. But they are known to not reach their full size and glory until about 2 years of age.
Gawd, I do luv the Maine Coon breed.
I believe I shall be owned by one some day.
Lori's are most magnificent, and when Leo lost his brother Ty way too early in life, it was a tragedy for us all.
One of the Lord's most beautiful and loving companion animals.

Cat stuck in peanut butter jar gives birth to 4 kittens before dying

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - A stray cat with its head stuck inside a peanut butter jar has been euthanized, but there's a silver lining to this sad story. The cat gave birth to a litter of kittens before she died.

Riverside County Animal Services in California released new pictures and video of the cat they nicknamed Skippy.

The cat gave birth on Tuesday to four kittens – named Peanut, Butter, Jelly and Honey.

Skippy was first found on Monday by a local resident who called animal services to help free the cat with its head stuck in a plastic peanut butter container.

An animal services officer used a Leatherman multi-tool device to cut off the plastic, but Skippy was already dehydrated and suffering from a maggot infestation in her ears.

Hours after she gave birth, Skippy's health worsened and she had to be put down. But animal care workers say they have been bottle-feeding the kittens to ensure their survival.

Volunteers are now caring for the newborn kittens and hope they can be ready for adoption soon.

I read that story earlier today,.
As many cat stories go, very touching.

Missing Denver cat found at Highland Park construction site

A cat that went missing from his Colorado home last summer has turned up in Dallas.

Harvey the cat disappeared from his Denver home in June 2016, but was discovered at a construction site in Highland Park this week.

Harvey was pulled from a 25-foot deep hole by a team from Dallas Animal Services. The rescue took about six hours. Harvey was covered in mud, but otherwise in good health.

The cat was microchipped, so DAS staff was able to call Harvey’s owner in Denver to let them know the good news. The Denver family has no idea how Harvey wound up in Texas, but is thrilled to be reunited.

Harvey’s family will fly to Dallas this weekend to pick him up from DAS and take him home.

Never realized this until just now.
Do you realize that many of the cat sounds in the online Simon's Cats thingy are really human voices saying things/

What could be more entertaining than a cat and a laser pointer? Apparently, a cat and some cleverly applied ink on paper.

A curious cat was filmed absolutely losing its mind after catching sight of an optical illusion, prompting it to declare war on the mesmerizing circles.

The frustrated cat resorted to clawing and tearing the paper with its teeth after laying eyes on the “rotating snakes” design, which appears to move on its own.

Thousands offered in case of cat doused with gasoline
READING, Pa. (AP) - Several organizations are offering thousands of dollars in reward money for information that leads to a conviction of the person responsible for dousing a cat with gasoline in Pennsylvania.

Humane Society officials say the animal was tied up, doused in gasoline and placed into a plastic trash bag that was nearly crushed in a Pennsylvania garbage truck Tuesday in Reading. Two workers heard the cat making sounds inside the bag, and it's being treated at the Humane Veterinary Hospital.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. The Humane Society of Berks County earlier posted a $1,000 reward. WFMZ-TV reports that Crime Alert Berks County also is offering reward money.

Have had some great sunshine here over the last day or so, and when it comes shining in the west windows onto the kitties on the waterbed, it gives me some time to do some inspections.

Sadly, my dear kitties are showing their age. Both Purrball and Bandit shall, God willing, be 16yo this fall.
They are both very vivid and perky, but both are becoming one-eyed kitties.
Both of them have lost sight in one of their eyes, although they would never show any signs of it.
Purrball was taken to the vet and I was simply told the it was age induced cataracts, nothing that they could do for her.
She has full vision in her left eye, and is still 'as quick as a cat'......LOL.

Bandit, I think, had a bit of a stroke a couple of weeks ago, and her right eyeball is just wide open. No swelling, pain, or discomfort that I can detect, but the iris is as big as the moon. She kinda stumbled a bit for a few hours, but that went away and she is a happy kitty in all regards otherwise.

As always, they love it when Dad is around to cuddle and comfort them.
I love it too.

Texas Cloned Kitty Known as 'Copy Cat' Thrives at Age 15

At the end of a long gravel road in East College Station, the world's first cloned cat -- now 15 years old -- lives in what longtime Texas A&M Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science researcher Duane Kraemer describes affectionately as a "kitty barn."

The Eagle newspaper reports CC, also known as Copy Cat, was born in December 2001, the result of the 87th attempt at cloning a cat by Kraemer's lab at Texas A&M after several years of trying.

Outside of her unusual origins, Kraemer said CC is just like any other cat with a personality all her own.
"Most people somehow think personality is going to be cloneable, but it's not," Kraemer said. "She acts like most any cat, but, of course, cats vary."

Should Scottish fold cats be banned?

The British Veterinary Association has warned breeding of Scottish fold cats should stop because of health fears.
The breed has had a surge of popularity after celebrity owners such as Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran posted photos on Instagram.
The cats, which originated in Scotland in the 1960s, are famous for their small floppy ears.
However, this is the result of a genetic condition that can cause them to have short and painful lives.

Woman leaves more than 30 cats, recounts their lives in a journal
When the Wright-Way Rescue team arrived at a two-story house in downstate Cairo to rescue 33 orphaned cats, they thought they knew what they’d find.

Usually, the animal shelter rescue team find animals that are in bad shape and little is known about them.

But the dozens of cats left behind by Loma Kenner were different.

The rescuers found 33 healthy cats — and meticulous journal entries detailing each cat’s personality and behavior. Kenner also had well-organized medical records for each one.

......

It took about eight days for Wright-Way Rescue and five other animal groups to gather up all the cats. Besides Finding Forever, the other groups from the area helping out were Project Hope Humane Society in Metropolis; the Angelina Foundation for Animal Welfare in Alto Pass; Herrin Animal Control; and St. Francis CARE Animal Shelter in Murphysboro.

......

Anyone want to adopt one or more of the cats from the Wright-Way Rescue animal shelter will be asked to fill out a survey to match them with the best cat and personally meet them. The Finding Forever Animal Rescue requires proof of housing and a visit with the cats. Adoption fees range from $50 to $125, depending on the shelter.

“They are ready for some loving and some attention,” Baird said.

Mystery in Virginia: Someone is shaving other people's cats

WAYNESBORO, Va. (AP) — Why would someone go around shaving other people's cats?

The mystery has the attention of police in Waynesboro, a small city in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley where someone has been taking cats and precisely shaving their underbellies or legs. It's happened to seven cats since December.

Police Capt. Kelly Walker said Friday that all the cats have been returned otherwise unharmed, but some seem bothered. Walker says all the cats clearly had owners — they were well-groomed and wearing collars. He says police aren't sure what crime has been committed, but the owners "would just like it to stop."

Walker says he learned of the feline barbering spree this week when a resident asked if he could post notices asking anyone with information to contact police.
