Forgot your maths lessons in school? It's a 3" difference :-)

Ack! You're right!

My mind went Metric, instead of Imperial...

Some don't need sat have to hit bridges. A few years back iI saw a ridgid hit a set of height chains, then carry on past the turned ng point and hit a bridge with the top of that cab. The "knight of the road" some very impolite langage to thole gent who pointed out thbridge height sign on the bridge was less than height label on the inside of the cab (one of the old sleeper over cab type).

Do they have BAC yet? Sounds like the drink drivers who steer to the flashing lights of police cars.

These figures say a lot:

43 per cent of lorry drivers admit to not knowing the size of their vehicle
52 per cent of drivers admit to not taking low bridges into account when planning their journeys
five bridge strikes happen across the country everyday – with a peak of 10/day in October
on average, each bridge strike costs £13,500 and causes two hours of delays to train services.

The most bashed bridge in Britain, currently Stuntney Road bridge in Ely, Cambridgeshire has been hit 113 times since 2009.
Kenworthy Road bridge in Homerton, comes a close second with 99 strikes in the last eight years and third a bridge on Thurlow Park Road in Tulse Hill which was also been struck a whopping 92 times.

Know all 3 well. Back in 2002, that 2nd bridge had my colleagues & manager stumped. :-)

My crewmate & I got back earlier than we expected one Tuesday. The manager was going over the next day's runs & asked if I would do the London run. On checking the deliveries, told him that there are 2 we will be bringing back & pulled the delivery notes. Several warehouse staff & drivers were in the office & the manager asked me why so told him. I wasn't believed & as there was a whiteboard in the office, I drew a map of Kenworthy Road & surrounding area (without the aid of a mapbook).

One of the younger drivers, a cocky devil pulled his mapbook out & checked, then went silent. Yes the truck can get down Kenworthy Road but as there were 2 deliveries one either side of the bridge & no way that a 34 foot long vehicle can turn in the road. Bridge height is 11'3" Truck Height 11'3".

Told the boss, my license, my rules. There was no way I was going to attempt those deliveries. On the whiteboard, I had drawn a school at one end of the road & a hospital at the other. I was asked how I can do that without looking at a map.

The school at the end of the road was a primary school & within a 5 minute walk was another, a secondary school - I went to both as well as living in the borough for 25 years :-)

Town in Iceland Paints 3D Zebra Crosswalk To Slow Down Speeding Cars

Makes me want to go and paint something similar on the street in front of my house since a few of my neighbors think they're in a NASCAR race. :-(

Pretty neat. Unfortunately it won't fool the locals for very long.
Unless once in a while, on a random schedule, they replace them with real concrete ones. Then you'll have everybody's attention!

Like it very much.
But as you say the locals (2600 inhabitants in Ísafjörður) are already aware of the painting.
And it has already started snowing so you could probably not see it anyway...

Flight attendant falls out of plane while trying to shut cabin door

Employment in the high skies can be a dangerous line of work.

On Oct. 24, a flight attendant from China Eastern Airlines fell out of a Boeing 737-800 and onto the tarmac at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport in Guangdong, China, suffering several bone fractures and bruises. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, the airport confirmed in a statement.

According to the airport, the flight attendant “accidentally fell on the tarmac from the left rear cabin door when the plane was ready for takeoff,” South China Morning Post said. The China Easter Airlines flight was scheduled to leave for the cities of Kunming and Tengchong.

The woman fell about 9 feet from the aircraft and was found by mechanics who were preparing the plane for takeoff, an airport staffer confirmed.

Nice flying, bet the passengers had a few whoopsie moments :-)

I am sure they were a bit uneasy when the captain came on the comm and said 'Don't worry folks, we'll just spin around and have another go at it...........'
