With local rules limiting the footprint of the house the only way the Jones' could have enough space for their expanding family was to build upwards..... Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Well done everyone - lots of captions and a very difficult choice this time. I was tempted to continue the joke about taking over the thread with Angela's late entry which definitely gets an honourable mention for vertical thinking: Never underestimate the re-sale value of a home with an ocean view. Blurf gets an honourable mention for topicality: "Really a camouflaged rocket-powered escape pod for when the Zombie Apocalypse hits!" Special thanks to Carlos and Zalster for thinking of a silo and rob smith for mentioning restricted space. The tallest grain silo in the world is fairly close to where I work and it is indeed built like that because the company did not have room for several side-by-side. Here are two pictures taken one evening: Illuminated by "the long light" just before sunset Author: Michael Roberts Caught by the last rays of the setting sun Author: Michael Roberts Anyway, on with the judging. In third place is Graham Middleton: I will probably laugh every time I see a traditional phone box now! ...And the final item of interest in this spectacular property is the see-through out-house just to the right of the chimney. Second goes to Lynn who correctly identified the building as a water tower. As you can read in the description on Wikimedia Commons, it was built by an eccentric who liked dovecots and people have lived there very happily. Now THATS a happy water tower! And our winner this time is soft^spirit, with this nicely constructed joke: I thought I had built the perfect house, settled in to my loft |
