Looks good, maybe wait and see what the GTX950s will be. 750Ti's price may be reduced to $99. |

I don't know anything about these types of computers. Question thou, is it tall enough for GPUs and long enough (depth wise) Would like to see what those in the know think. |

I don't know anything about these types of computers. it is a 4U server so height should not be a problem plus i got riser cables in case it don't fit (i shove em in there somehow hehe) The server is very long it is full size so i think lenghth is not an issue I probably have to get 8x to 16x cables since that thing only has 8x ports But it has a lot of them haha EDIT: I just bought 4x intel xeon E7450 hex core cpu's for 100$ that are gonna go in to get some more oompf out of the machine I came down with a bad case of i don't give a crap |

I typically stay away from Dell. They are proprietary on their architecture and their PSUs die out after a short time - within a three year period. Also, had two different Dell models start "eating" their own hardware. I/O ports would stop working, the mouse would fail, (but it wasn't the mouse, it was the mouse port), then hard drive controller would fail, then video card would fail. In my opinion, Dell is complete crap! I'd rather have HP as a name brand. We have four HP systems; three Win 7 Home Premium systems and one XP Pro system. The XP system, after 12 years, now has overheating issues; but, it is finally 12 years old - not bad for a 32 bit laptop... Of the three Win 7 Home Prem. systems, one is a Desktop, two are laptops. One of the laptops was pre-installed with Win Vista SP-2, and then Upgraded to Win 7 Home Premium. The three Win 7 systems are all x64, and the one that was originally Vista was bought in 2010. Personally, I prefer a custom built machine; but for the prices we paid for the HPs, we've done VERY well with the purchases. All were purchased through COSTCO and received the COSTCO 2Yr Warranties on them. Just my two cents... TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

you realize this is not a consumer machine right? I agree the consumer machines dell sells are junk but i have 4 dell 2950's running since years in the office and not one hickup As for HP i had nothing but bad luck wth their servers blown voltage regulators bad ram etc etc you never know what you get with any of em What i'm really surprised about are ibm thinkservers they run great no problems EDIT: And to be honest the HP versions are a lil steep for my pocket the dell stuff is cheap on ebay :) I came down with a bad case of i don't give a crap |

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-PowerEdge-R900-LFF-4x-2-93GHz-Quad-Core-X7350-32GB-RAM-2x-750GB-HDD-/181803272229?ssPageName=ADME:L:COSI:US:1123 Well, the rear view shows Dell's ID number (under the right-side fan) so you should be able to look up its delivery spec on Dell's support website (assuming it's a shot of the one they'll actually ship...). 16 Xeon cores should be OK, I figure on ~1000 RAC/core, depending on age (I don't run HyperThreading on our work machines, we need maximum single-thread performance as we don't multithread our applications yet). [Edit] Checked out the ID. The unit pictured shipped with only two CPUs as far as I can see. The manual says that it has 3x PCIE_X4 and 4 PCIE_X8 slots, but it's not clear if the sketch is adequately representing the sockets. You may have trouble putting a PCIe_X16 card in them if they are short sockets. [/Edit] |

What a deal for me here in Australia. US$325 for the server US$1,275 for freight. Would be good if you were close enough to pick it up & dodge the freight cost. Grant Darwin NT |

Good deal for lots of cpu cores but higher power consumption and noise if that matters. Gpus need motherboard and/or psu power so hopefully you can get that sorted out. Some gpus may not play well with adapters. Most people would be served better with a simpler machine to support a couple of gpus, but a simpler machine wouldn't necessarily have as many cores, nor be less expensive, nor be rack mountable. |

Well i actually haggled them down to 250 and include the bezel and trays He's talking about Downloading New BOINC versions to be installed on your computer... (Should you choose to upgrade from whatever current BOINC version you are on.) I checked, it CAN'T be done right now, EVERYTHING BOINC related is DOWN. :-( TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... thnx man Just got a bounce message saying it couldn't deliver to the e-Mail you specified... PM me the e-Mail address again, and let me see if you typo-ed the first time... TL [EDIT] Never mind, it's GMail blocking the attachment... Do you have a Yahoo or other e-Mail account that I can send to... It's seeing BOINC as a "Security Threat"... :-( TL [EDIT 2] Another thought would be attaching the file through Skype, if you don't have another e-Mail address that will work...
