Ignoring Facts? No. Just Human Nature.

Let me give the following analogy:

You live in the Inner City. 1000 people live in your Housing Complex.

There is One Murderer, One Child Rapist, and One Armed Robber living amongst you.

Fact: Your chance of being either Murdered, Raped or Robbed is .003%

Do you believe you are living in a Safe Housing Complex?

Numbers and Truth are not the same.

So there's at least one of each on these boards according to your perception of numbers.

Hmmm, no wonder these boards are not safe :-)

Numbers and Truth are not the same.

Spoken like a promoter of religion where belief trumps [pun intentional] reality.

Deny numbers then you deny math and the universe.

Fact: Your chance of being either Murdered, Raped or Robbed is .003%
Oh and I have no clue where you can up with your 0.003% You have some explaining to do.

@bobby, was this http://www.cato.org/blog/syrian-refugees-dont-pose-serious-security-threat what you had linked to?

Gary is incorrect again.

#1 - I am a Tolerant Atheist. Unlike some Poster's.

#2 - 3 crimes, divided by 1000 innocent people. Is a .003% possibility of a crime being committed against any individual.

Gary apparently also has a problem with Math 101.

No and the criminal is not limited to one crime! But I suppose that is how the NYPD gets its famous low crime rate numbers.

Oh BTW, I'm not a child so I'm not a child rapist target victim.

I think you will find it is a lot more complicated than that.

And it is .3%

It's a housing complex with remarkably low population of felons.

As someone that grew up in a dysfunctional family, I have never felt 100% safe. A person in the city I currently live in has said "Sarge, you always have one eye looking over your shoulder." He's pretty much right. But, that has not made me paranoid and I can put these percentages in their proper perspective. I'm more worried about being hit by a careless motorist.

As noted: Low percentages (numbers) do not tell the entire story.

Another question to those in these threads.

What is the chance, in percentage, of you personally, or those you love, being killed by any Terrorist?

1%, .01%, .001%, .0001%? Less? More?

Perspective.

Family lived near the early 2000s sniper attacks.

Between 2001 to 2013 a US citizen was 120 times more likely to be killed in a violent gun incident inside the USA that be killed worldwide by a terrorist.

Sarge...

Good answer!

BTW: Grew-up in the streets, Combat Veteran, Law Enforcement. Always 'looking over my shoulder'.

All are living in their own universe.

WK...

Correct.

As an academic, I am definitely in my own universe. Looking over my shoulder means making sure the brane of another universe from another dimension doesn't collide with my brane as I spend too much time inside my brain.

LOL! Now even FOX admits it! Take away the racism & xenophobia and Tump is catching others with LEFTIST policies. "She also assumed that a larger number of conservative Republicans would stick to their ideological guns and refuse to move left with Trump."

Hmm...

Remember what I said a few months ago about the USA being in the middle of a realignment of political parties?

Clinton(D) is moving somewhat towards the right.

Trump(R) is moving somewhat towards the left.

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

I rode around through my retirement community today and this is what I saw. Possibly a dozen yard signs supporting Trump/Pence. That's a pretty small number but what was significant, there were NO signs or posters supporting Clinton. It is the same on the roads around here, lots of Trump bumper stickers but only rarely a Clinton sticker.

Some places are red. Some places are blue. A very few places are purple.

In my area there are no (spit) Trump signs. Lots of Obama and Bernie bumper stickers though.

Gary Johnson for President.

Same here in Florida. Add many Trump Buttons proudly displayed.

No Clinton Signs. And few Clinton Buttons.

Saw several T-shirts today in separate locations with "Irredeemably Deplorable" blazoned thereon.

And some of them won't be voting for either, even if they're turning Clinton's line about Trump supporters into a gag. One of them was supporting Kasich. I'll bet he plans to go with Johnson now.

If a good portion of Trump's supporters knew which of his policies were on the left, they'd probably drop him like a hot potato and go for Johnson. Or, if they realized they like left policies after all. maybe go to Clinton or more likely Stein because they've been fed "Hillary, bad" for 24 years.
