As the USA generally uses English common law when it doesn't define something ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural-born-citizen_clause#Antecedents_in_England And this is from the correct time period, I'm inclined to think this is what the framers had in mind with their wording. Now the second but more important question is who has standing to challenge and what forum gets to decide the issue. I strongly suspect this is a case that SCOTUS will never hear. I suspect they would punt this back to the body that receives and tallies the votes of the electoral college. Remember in the USA we don't vote for president, we vote for electors. ID: 1756783 ·
