Great, so we have these at AP as well?

Back when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my machine running BOINC 7.6.x, I did a project reset, forgetting that "send lost tasks" was turn off, and I lost all of my AP tasks in the queue. These tasks have now started to time out, so there are 189 AP tasks out there in the ozone, that will make some one very happy and approx. 90 more on the way. ENJOY!! Just make sure you send some my way when I call in my marker, and I will be calling that marker in. Right now with d/l server #2 down and nothing being split I don't know when I'll get fed again. So I've restarted SETI Beta to massage the GPUs, don't want them to get too cold. I might have to readjust and take on CPU tasks also as I only have 7MB tasks from main left (approx. 10 hrs.).

I don't buy computers, I build them!!

'_B3_P1_' is notorious. Beam three, polarisation one has a dry joint or some other recurring problem between the antenna and the recorder at Arecibo. It seems to be seasonal - for weeks at a time, often in Spring, a bit gets stuck and only 7 bits are recorded in the data stream. It looks like RFI contamination to the science app, as found by your wingmate on WU 1858210764 too.

Ah, I had another one of those as well. Also 5 seconds. Can't we crowd source someone with some rags, a can of WD40 and a can of lubricant over to clean the thing out? :)

LoL, I think DeoxIT would be more suitable.

My judgement is that the bad connection is within the recorder since it only affects one of the two bits (I and Q) derived from that channel. So it's probably between the quadrature detector and the PCI card which inputs the data to the computer for recording. That's on an 80 pin connector and the data is at ECL levels.

Looks like I still have 12 AP's left for my CPU and I picked up 3 resends on my GPU

All my APs are now gone, so with running MBs only, my RAC is in professional free fall. Thank the deities that I care about my RAC. :-)

Only got 19 left to crunch, 297 in pending status.

Oh well, we are working on the MBs pretty good.
Hopefully some more APs left in the hopper to load when the MBs wind down.

Erm, missing a don't in the above sentence. Thank the deities that I don't care about my RAC. :-)

So, if you don't care, why do you mention it?

To let you all know, of course. Else you would be without such information and you'd feel left out. Can't have that. There's so much information in this world that you may or may not know about, but at least this time you got it on a platter and have now taken knowledge of this knowledge. Don't you feel great? :-)

Do Astropulse GPU tasks run hotter than MB GPU tasks? The reason I ask is my main box "Brett-PC", when I has running Astropulse on my HD7870, and R9 380, it was running really hot, mid-high 80's C. Now that I'm running V7 7.07 tasks, it's way cooler, 70C and 60C respectively, plus the case is cool to the touch.

Yes, they can, depending on the apps and settings you are using.
I notice power usage as monitored with my Killawatt meters is higher on all of my rigs when doing all AP work as opposed to all MB work.

I've noticed a 5-7 C increase on the GPUs when they crunch APs

On GPU`s with 18+ compute units -unroll is running at default of 18 if no comandline option overrides the defaults.
This results in better performance but of course also produces more heat.
If you run multiple instances adjusting unroll could be helpful.
80°C would be to high for my taste.

I run work only on my ATI HD7870, and do see that APs run slightly hotter than MBs. APs generally run at high 50C, low 60C, while MBs run at low 50C.

A while back both these had these temperatures plus 10C, but then I cleaned out the heat sink and fan of the HD7870 and gained 10 degrees Celsius. So it may be worth your while to power down and clean out the card as well.

A bit of canned air, an old toothbrush, a couple of toothpicks and your own breath are the only things you need.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to be putting together a new box, as soon as skylake is available and will get a high airflow box. Two gpu,s really crank out the heat.

Dang....and I got 2 rigs shut down again due to the heat.
Might be able to run them tonight when it cools off a bit.
