Hi there, So I've been running SETI@home and LHC@home for a few weeks now. My machine has been doing well with the number crunching. Now today I see that nothing is happening on my PC. I've checked my internet connection so I'm sure that I can communicate with these various projects but ALAS! No new tasks. How can this be? Surely there's plenty of processing still outstanding for these projects? I've seen in the BOINC Event Log that "Project has no tasks available". I then added Rosetta and it too has no tasks available! Where can I confirm that there is, in fact, no new work to be processed by these projects? Thanks and regards, Walter |

For SETI you you to the home page, then click on "server status. On the right hand side of the page you will see a whole bunch of numbers - the one to keep an eye on is "Results Ready to Send" - as I type this is zero for both MB & AstroPulse. I can't answer about LHC, but have found it to be very erratic over the years. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

The LHC server status page shows a similar "Tasks ready to send: 0" LHC tasks tend to be available in batches - we've just finished a big one - and at erratic intervals. |

Don't run SETI without a backup project set to a low priority if you are trying to keep your computer busy at all times. SETI could mitigate this with reasonable work queues, but it seems those haven't been adjusted since the advancement of GPU work. ( I run 3 tasks each on 3 of my GPU's and SETI wont let me keep more than a couple hours of work for my machine. When you combine this with how very often SETI has no work available, it makes a good case for a backup project. I like Einstein so that's what my GPUs are running now. |

If you want a project to keep your CPU busy. I suggest "Climate Prediction". I don't know if they use GPU's or not. The work units are extremely long. I have received wu's with 1 year to complete. Others taking a few days to do running at 24/7. |
