Yes it has been a strange year for a lot of folks, some with so much rain like they haven't seen in 100 years and like us who have hardly nothing so far here.

Finally got to my normal local site for weather info, it's a local sailing club, their data say's we have had 3 winter months average rain, 60mm, in the 1st week of December, 188mm.

56ºF this morning, rain has stopped for now but the next good one hits wed and Thursday and a break on Friday with a wet weekend. Looks like our rain season is kicking in. All is welcome.

The upper left coast is wet, 1/2" so far with more to come and continue thru the rest of the week, Temps at sea level upper 40's and to drop by Wednesday. That is why our prevalent plant life is moss followed by conifers.

They're saying we may go six days in a row without a low below 35F, which hasn't happened in December in some large number of years.

The wet and windy weather here doesn't seem to be going away.

Met Office Warnings Issued For: Lancashire

Yellow warning of rain

Further rainfall is expected to arrive across much of Scotland and northern England during the early hours of Wednesday. The rain will become persistent and heavy at times over high ground before clearing to the southeast overnight Wednesday and into early Thursday.

Some very strong winds are also likely in association with this system with gusts of 60 mph possible in places, for which a separate warning has been issued. This could prove a further hazard.Please be aware of the potential for further disruption from flooding and to transport. This warning has been updated to extend it further north across Scotland but to restrict the extent across the Central Belt of Scotland and tone down peak rainfall totals slightly. The end time has also been brought forward.

Southwesterly winds will increase on Wednesday morning across parts of northern England, the Borders and Dumfries and Galloway, with gales developing widely. The gales are expected to last through the afternoon and evening but should ease by the early hours of Thursday.

Picking up on WinterKnight's UK forecast - from our office in Birmingham looking to the North West there is definitely a fair bit of rain bearing cloud, while to the South West (from whence the wind is coming) it is looking quite clear. The wind is whistling around, the sun shining (but only for another couple of hours before it sets)
