There are only two ways to eat fish 'n chips properly.

1. On the prom by a British seaside (rain optional)

2. On a canal boat, out of the paper, with a glass of real ale (beer essential)

Somehow I just knew that even if it was being made by an Englishman, in the English way, and served in the English way, you would still find a way to be snooty about it.

You didn't comment on the toad or the haggis, though.

Reminds me of my time in Dunoon, Scotland. My favorite local pub was two doors down from a Fish Bar. If you asked nicely, the barman would send his son over to get your fish & chips. Spent many a quiet evening drinking brown ale and listening to 1940s Big Band jazz on the juke box. And sometimes, we spent the late afternoon on the promenade, watching the boats on the Clyde, then head for the pub when the streetlights came on.

Should have known something was happening. Went to Sonic for a meal this morning and had a toaster sandwich. I had a choice of sausage or bacon. I went with bacon and look who comes back in out of self imposed "Coventry."
