Just dropping in to say g'morning to everyone before heading off into town (an 80km/50 mile round trip) though I should be back in time for Beer O'clock.

I must say that it'll be hard to go with the aroma wafting from the brewroom.

I don't hate anyone, until they give me reason........ ";D

I'm very similar DG, but I'd replace "hate" with "dislike". ;-)

Cheers.

I made it back well within time so I'm starting my Friday Beer O'clock early (just to make up for yesterday). :-D

Cheers.

There was a drive in burger joint in Denver until the mid-60's called Humpty Dumpty that served beer with their burgers at the drive in! MADD would go NUTS if it was still in business. It was also credited as being the birthplace of the Cheeseburger...http://www.onlycolorado.com/interesting/birth_of_the_cheseburger.php

I've heard various stories. Louisville claims it, too:

http://www.southernliving.com/travel/south-central/louisville-the-birthplace-of-the-cheeseburger

The restaurant closed several years ago, but they used to have a sign on the building that said, "If you can't stop, please wave." I guess too many people waved, and didn't stop. ;~)

McDonalds put most of the 'Mom and Pop' drive ins out of business.

After High School and before my 3 year 'vacation' in another hemisphere, I and my friends would spend most evenings 'hanging out' ala American Graffiti at a drive in called The Scotchman....

That original 15 cent hamburger model Ray Crock bought for a song spread like a disease across the country.

Those were the good ol' days, dg. There's still a drive-in on my way to work, called, Dizzy Whiz.

Actually there can't be many countries that don't have drive throughs. ;-)

Cheers.

Well, of course a drive-in, is a hang-out, where you eat in your car at the restaurant, while a drive-thru is get your food and drive out.

Whats the difference?
Driving and eating a burger and perhaps drinking some beverages in the same time instead of parking your car and doing the same...

If you want to know the difference, watch American Graffiti. Those were drive-INs.

When I hear Mel's, I think Mel's Diner, from "Alice".
