Message 1671719 - Posted: 29 Apr 2015, 23:26:15 UTC - in response to Message 1671654.

G'morning everyone.

I'm just waiting for the rain to arrive here (it's running late), but it's not far away now.

DG, after doing the numbers an mp3 player is out and a new CD/radio unit in the car with a few USB sticks is in. ;-)

Beer O'clock in 4hrs.

Cheers.

My car radio is cd/mp3/phono aux. Just burn 4 or 5 mp3 subdirectories or up to 700 mb of data on a blank cd. It can read the root directory like a cd changer. Using the phono aux input I can listen to a iPod or iPhone. I also like going to a internet hotspot on lunch break with my iPad and watch some Netflix in near theater sound.

That's just what I'm planning on getting Admiral in the car but also with a USB port as well.

But 1 thing that I'm not doing is going out to buy a smart phone or mp3 player to stick in it.

Ahhh..., less than 90mins to go now and I should have another 58L beer brew going. :-)

Cheers.

I'm like both of you re: the 'Derby', no idea who's running but can't wait to watch it.

Rooms at the hotel here where I work go up to $5000 per night during Derby. My house is a couple miles from the track.

The thing about it is, most of these rooms are bought by companies, and the actual people staying don't even know the price.

I'm a very single with no attachments. What does $5000 get you? I know it is a stretch. But do I have to provide my own cuddle partner? Lol.

You really don't get a lot of bang for the buck. Even the rubber ducky is not free.

That would be the day I'd pay $5000 a night to come see the pony's run. Look what they are making at motel 6. LOL

I bet Belmont does the same Gordon.

Maybe they do, I don't know, but I think the city here makes a lot bigger deal out of the Derby festivities than the other two races.

Oh I'm sure they do just like the super bowl does. it's here next year also.

49rs tickets are just out of site this year, I'm sure I'm not going there any time soon. TV is easy and cheap. LOL

I Think everybody knows how to order a beer in France.
Un demi, s'il vous plait.
But if you want something bigger?
Un sérieuse, s'il vous plait. Sans moustache monsieur.

I thought the only use the French had for beer was to attract the 'Escargot'......

and as for pricing that's the way it works in Hawaii also, there is a lumber company on the Big Island called H.P.M., all the locals say the initials stand for 'Howlies Pay More', which seems to be a running theme of life there....

A bottle of real champagne in a Biarritz cafe cost 7 Euros when I was there.
Un demi about 10 cents.
But that was more than 40 years ago:)

@DG and Ian. In Alsace they have many good beers.
