On another PC, My EVGA P55 FTW w/an x3480 cpu in it, I'm closer to powering this up and testing the P55 FTW... I just need about $31.00 for a 360mm steel radiator bracket, the one I like is machined and nearer to $171.00, but that is a ways off, if ever.

I got the H70 bracket and back plate installed, I just need the 360 bracket, the Corsair H70 is made of aluminum and has 1 stripped thread on the radiator(the side that has no tubing), the radiator is 152x120x38mm in size.

The back of the EVGA P55 FTW motherboard.

One thing I need to do is find a 3 pin fan extension cable and a 3 pin Y cable, why? Simple, the case has a switch to turn the case leds on or off, two of my fans for the cpu are plugged in there.

I think I know where both are at, now I just have to find them.

No, but thanks Zalster, I will look for the pink 3 pin extension cable that I saw in a box recently, that won't cost Me anything, I only have $3.67 total today in My bank account.

The radiator grill is a Phobya 360mm bricky grill on ebay from the UK, right now the grill is $30.14, earlier it had been $30.09 and this is with shipping($7.26 for the moment) added in.

Sometime on Thorsday, I plan on updating the UEFI Bios on My Asus Rampage IV Extreme from 4102(2013) to 4902(2014), why? So I can eventually get a 4820K cpu, I'll have to delid the 4820K cpu and install some Noctua NT-H1 between the cpu die and the cleaned off IHS(Heat Spreader) with a single sided razor, very carefully I might add. Then once the modified cpu is in place with proper heatsink compound, instead of the cheap "cement"(that's what it acts like, since it doesn't transfer heat worth a darn) that Intel labels heatsink compound, why?

Cooler cpu temps, maybe about 48C for Ivy-e(22nm) vs 58C for Sandy-e(32nm) while crunching Seti@Home and about a 25w reduction in power usage. Note I'm crunching 4 cpu wu's at a time @ what cpu-z says is 3.81GHz, only problem is I only loaded optimized defaults last time I was in the Bios...

Here's gpu-z... One of the fastest GTX580 cards, though since water cooled is stock here, it's the coolest...

Ok I updated the bios from 4102 to 4901(typo on last post, should be 4901, not 4902), now the PC is ready for any i7 4xxx cpu, though a 4820K seems like an interesting choice, I'll need a certain type of blade to remove the IHS(like at this Link Here: (Fixing Skylake, Haswell, and Ivy Bridge CPU temps: IHS removal), clean off the cpu die and IHS of Intels laughable excuse for heatsink compound, install a thin layer of Noctua heatsink compound, put the IHS on to check for contact with the cpu die(just in case I need some more), then install the cpu under the Intel cpu clamp, then the Alphacool water block/reservoir and power up the PC.

Oh and like on the 3xxx Sandy Bridge CPU series, do not try and delid the 4690X cpu, the 4960X cpu die is soldered on, removal will destroy the cpu...

And I found out that My hdd's are AHCI enabled by default, neat,
now I just have to figure out how to manually set the timing to the XMP settings
shown in Cpu-z v1.76 of 10(CAS#)-11(RAS# to CAS#)-10(RAS# Precharge)-30(tRAS)-40(tRC)
and to then set the speed of the ram to 1866MHz.

Well I got news this morning on My EVGA RMA of the X79 Classified, EVGA is sending Me a recertified X79 Dark in its place, of course that means I have to get the thing up quickly, since the X79 Dark is taking over the X79 Classified's warranty and that is up sometime in June 2016. Thankfully it's just an E-ATX motherboard and not an XL-ATX motherboard. Yeah I have the parts, just no case yet, the only extra case that I have is promised to Jim_S(got to get the parts cleaned and assembled for that) and that case can't do more than ATX, plus I need to upgrade the two i7 3820 cpus that I have to i7 4820K cpus asap, since they will use somewhat less power. The X79 Dark should be here by the end of the week, maybe.

Of course EVGA being fairly close by, must have sent the motherboard out yesterday, since the X79 DARK, showed up by UPS Ground today...
Oh and that is all that EVGA sent Me, so I will have to use the I/O shield from the X79 Classified on the X79 Dark, but then they are pretty close, so that should work.

I found out today, after I made a 3rd call to AZZAtek and 2 emails, that the usb board that has a broken port will cost Me $16.00 total to replace in My AZZA 9000B case, if this had happened within 1yr of Me buying the case from Amazon, the part would be free, so July it is, that and a 360mm Phobya radiator fan grill and an i7 4820K cpu, a 4820K cpu that's up for bid, if I can't get the cpu then, I'll wait until I can.

Once I get the cpu modified and working as I want it to, then I'll sell off My present i7 3820 cpu and then test/sell off the 2nd i7 3820 cpu, together I should then be able to get a 2nd 4820K cpu to modify and install in the EVGA X79 Dark and install the 1st 4820K cpu into My Asus Rampage IV Extreme motherboard, the 4820K and 4930K both run hot since Intel put some cheap heatsink compound between the cpu die and the IHS instead of using solder(the IHS is that metal plate on top of the cpu), this is known as delidding a cpu, to fix Intels mistake.

The i7 4960X cpu does not suffer from the Heatsink Compound problems due to Intel using solder on this Ivy Bridge-E cpu, as Intel had done with the entire 3xxx Sandy Bridge-E cpus. I'd normally just get a 4960X and avoid this hassle, but 4960X cpus are horribly expensive to buy, at over $1,000.00 each, even when bought used.

OK I'm making some progress on getting the X79 DARK running, or at least an attempt at any rate.

The 3820 cpu is installed, it's still tough taking pics of the cpu,
and the red areas, well, they look orange, better than pink at least.

I had to modify the X79 Classified I/O shield slightly to work with the X79 Dark,
yeah this can be done, I might close up 3 holes with electricians tape, maybe.

And the Asetek/Corsair H70 cpu cooler hold down clamp, why the Corsair H70?
Simple, it's available and needs the least amount of work to make ready for operation.

Now I've added a 4GB stick of G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1333 ram(memory) to the
X79 Dark motherboard, next will be some Noctua NT-H1 heatsink compound and
My Corsair H70 cpu cooler, at least once I have located a suitable Delta 120x38mm fan.
After that, it's attach an 850w psu and a monitor, I don't know if I can hook up
a ps/2 keyboard with one of the usb adapters that I have or not, since I don't
know if they still work.

Ok I got the Corsair H70 w/Koolance 108cfm 120x25mm fan installed, with what turns out to be the very last Noctua NT-H1 heatsink compound that I have,
that didn't last too long, I've got to buy a few more, asap. Next is the video card, psu, monitor and if I can, a keyboard, I need to find a ps/2 to usb
adapter, that I saw to make a keyboard work, since I only have one usb keyboard.

Ok I installed the video card, an MSI NX6200TC, it's old, but good enough for testing video cards, cpus and motherboards, plus I found a ps/2 to usb adapter
for the keyboard, yay! Now I only need to hook up a psu and the monitor. I hope that DVI port works, otherwise I'll have to reconnect the VGA output and connect
a VGA to DVI cable to the monitor, yuck!! Oh and a 6200 couldn't crunch even one paid it to do so...

Ok I fired the X79 Dark up and the X79 Dark is not liking the MSI NX6200TC, the power goes up and down, tried in a different slot and same thing happened,
took the video card out and I get stability and an error that said 'no video card', so I have to get the Zotac GTX580 Infinity down, clean the radiator and
the fans, then hook that up once the radiator is clean and dry...
With the video card installed the motherboard would power up, then down, over and over.
The motherboard is sitting on a Foam pad, relax, only the pad is touching the bag...

I have good news and bad news, the X79 Dark lives and so does the 3820 3.60GHz cpu, I cleaned the Zotac 580 Infinity,
here's the pic. Oh and the bad news? I cut Myself on the right thumb, sorry picture n/a... I'll be ok, so now I need a:
Thermaltake X5 case, an Alphacool Eisberg 240 cpu cooler, 2 tubes of Noctua NT-H1 heatsink compound and an adapter for
a very fast Delta 120x38mm fan(the adapter I have, the fan is miswired), the H70 is is 10C warmer than the
Alphacool Eisberg 240 and that is just at idle. Oh and the ps/2 to usb adapter? It works too,
so now I only have one motherboard to test, the EVGA P55 FTW will get the H70,
since the Corsair H70 cpu cooler needs 2 fans to get down to 38C at 2.66GHz.

Here's the X79 Dark in a closeup. Oh and I was able to adjust the multiplier up to 44 too.

Ok here's the pic...
And I'm fresh out of bleach, not to mention anything else that would sterilize a wound, yes I do have a picture, no it's not gory or even allegory. This was taken today. No bandage is needed. I may try the Cooler Master R1 Glacer cpu cooler on the EVGA X79 DARK, but at the moment I'm out of Noctua NT-H1 thermal compound, as I'd only bought 1 tube, I didn't know that would go so fast.

I still need a EATX capable case, I'm split between a Thermaltake X5 and an X9 case, both in Black.

The Cooler Master R1 Glacer 240L cpu cooler needs new lines, 5/8"OD x 3/8"ID in Black($17.98 on ebay), but when I test the cooler, it's to see if the pump works or not.

I've got great news, My thumb is almost fully healed up, like nothing happened.
And Paypal just rewarded Me with a $398.83 increase in My credit line,
since it won't effect My credit score, I'm getting that black drivers seat for
My car for hopefully $170.00 total(I made an offer) and an Intel i7 4820K cpu for maybe $127.50 plus 3.21 shipping,
the cpu is a bid and has less than 3.5 hours to go, hopefully I'll get both soon.

Ok I won the i7 4820K cpu for $157.71 total($3.21 shipping), since the seller is in California, I just need to wait for the 2 tubes of Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste to be delivered, the EVGA X79 Dark has a Bios v2.13, which is the latest from EVGA, I also bought a razor to fix the cpu's weak heat thermal compound Intel foisted upon the 4820K and 4930K, the razor will if carefully done, delid the cpu, like on youtube. This does not need to be done on the 4960X, since the IHS is soldered on and can't be removed, just like the whole 3xxx series cpus are, you'd end up with a dead cpu. All are paid for thru Paypal Credit.

What am I doing now?

Waiting for good news from Germany on a refund, I ordered twice instead of just once, instead of saying "Thanks for your order", the site says "Your shopping cart is empty" like something went wrong, so for the moment I'm out an an extra $82.28 total, which I need for the rent, Paypal won't interfere, so Aquatuning.us should.

And yes I got the 2 tubes of Noctua NT-H1 Thermal Compound in, but right now I'm still recovering from the heat outside, the temp is 102.4F outside, todays predicted high 101F, Thursday is predicted to be 106F.

The 4820K cpu, My drivers seat(it's black, I have a tan interior, its what I could get), Static Guard Spray, Downy Fabric Softener, and Razors, are all on the way here.

I need a nap, I got 4 hours of sleep last night, Thorsday is going to be busy and hotter...

Later.

Since earlier, I went to Paypal's website and filed a dispute against the duplicate purchase and Paypal online agreed to refund the entire amount of $82.28, back to My bank account, they are now waiting for a response from Aquatuning.us.

So far so good, this also proves some people on the phone don't know what they are talking about.
