Hi All, i currently run most seti on win7 x64 using the lunatics version. I see a lot people with FAST systems running win7 "ultimate" x64, is there a performance boost using the "ultimate" edition? |

Hi All, i currently run most seti on win7 x64 using the lunatics version. I see a lot people with FAST systems running win7 "ultimate" x64, is there a performance boost using the "ultimate" edition? No difference. The main differences between the different versions of a given OS are that the basic (home) version is just that- very basic. Then there is the Pro version, aimed at businesses (file encryption etc). The Ultimate edition is basically the Pro version but with all of the Home options as well (Media Centre etc) all thrown in. Enterprise versions are specifically designed for systems running with large amounts of memory (TeraBytes of RAM), support for virtualisation of dozens (or more) virtual systems as well as huge amounts of storage (PetaBytes) and multiple CPUs (4 or 8). Additionally, Ultimate allows to change the Windows language to any language you want. It's how I run my Windows in English, while the Windows version itself is Dutch. |

Additionally, Ultimate allows to change the Windows language to any language you want. It's how I run my Windows in English, while the Windows version itself is Dutch. That has been available at no extra cost on linux systems since the early days (long long ago)... As for efficiency, ALL operating systems should be unobtrusive and efficient enough that the OS overhead should be minimal. Then it is just a question of features and reliability...
