It's the lack of checks and balances that worries me.

Heh, absolute commandments on whats essentially moral relativism.

I don't think these commandments are much better than the original commandments.

I like the Netherlands. They have a goverment that bassically lets people free in their acts and their thinking. Belgium is also good at that, better than the States and the UK that is.

As per usual you have missed the point! Religions have COMMANDMENTS i.e. I am your God, you will do what I say, and worship me, or else you will be punished.

This new list which is meant to be adopted in a religion free world should really be called AGREED LIFESTYLE VALUES not commandments.

The Netherlands is one of the most secular countries in Western Europe, with only 39% being religiously affiliated (31% for those aged under 35), and fewer than 5.6% visiting church regularly. Religion in the Netherlands generally is considered a personal matter which is not supposed to be propagated in public.

Would have thought these proposals would attract you, although you are not supposed to say so. But hey that's the Netherlands for you.

Dutch manners are blunt with a no-nonsense attitude; informality combined with adherence to basic behaviour. This might be perceived as impersonal and patronising by other cultures, but is the norm in Dutch culture.

No, you missed my point. Whether you call them commandments or agreed lifestyle values, they are still absolutes in nature. Which I found to be ironic given the fact that for the most part, they are propagating moral relativism. The absolute rule is that there are no absolute rules.

And no, I don't like those rules. I don't think they are particularly great rules or agreed lifestyle values. A lot of them mean the same thing and some of them are incompatible with one another.

I think those 10 items are trying to turn atheism into a religion. I think the world would be a better place with a whole lot more apathy, think of a world that didn't have people who judge every which way about meaningless nothing. That's the world I want to one day live in.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

7. Treat others as you would want them to treat you, and can reasonably expect them to want to be treated. Think about their perspective.

That is the sympathy/empathy card.

I like that one.

I would be Jewish on Saturday and Catholic on Sunday. Buddhism would be my overall religion, tinted with some Anarchism.
