Just reading about a habanero ale I'd like to try I don't get adding flavors to a perfectly fine brew. Cave Creek(?) brewing in Arizona has a Jalapeno beer that I tried. Got it down but not without a struggle. Habaneros are for making chili or hot sauce. I have placed 1st in a local chili contest 15 times in 18 years in the 'Killer Hot' class, using 15 - 20 Habaneros per crock pot. I grow my own and this year grew some Bhut Jolokia peppers, also known as the 'Ghost Pepper' from NE India. The Bhut is the 2nd hottest in the world rated at 1,200,000 Scoviles(the rating scale used to measure capsaicin in peppers)Habaneros rate 800,000. I used some to make a hot sauce that will remove paint! :0)) This spring I'm planting some Trinidad Scorpions which are supposedly twice the rating of Bhuts. There must be a point somewhere that the increase in heat becomes undetectable and irrelevant, so far I haven't found it. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |
