Good Morning everyone :)

Good Morning Gordon,

yes I watched that Movie. Good Movie.

a little cut and paste from Wikipedia.

Lifeboat (1944) is an American film directed by Alfred Hitchcock from a story by John Steinbeck. The film stars Tallulah Bankhead with William Bendix. Also in the cast are Walter Slezak, Mary Anderson and John Hodiak. Additional roles in the boat were from Henry Hull, Heather Angel, Hume Cronyn, and Canada Lee. It is set entirely on a lifeboat during World War II.

The film is the first in Hitchcock's "limited-setting" films, the others being Rope (1948), Dial M for Murder (1954), and Rear Window (1954). The film received Academy Award nominations for Best Director, Best Original Story and Best Cinematography - Black and White.

John Steinbeck is one of my favorite Authors, and of course a long with Carl Sagan :)

John Ernst Steinbeck, Jr. (February 27, 1902 – December 20, 1968) was an American author of twenty-seven books, including sixteen novels, six non-fiction books, and five collections of short stories. He is widely known for the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Grapes of Wrath (1939), East of Eden (1952) and the novella Of Mice and Men (1937). Steinbeck received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962 "for his realistic and imaginative writings, combining as they do sympathetic humour and keen social perception".

one of my all time Great Classic Movie is ... A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

a little more cut and paste from Wikipedia.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is a American film (1945) the first film directed by Greek-American director Elia Kazan, starring James Dunn (who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor), Dorothy McGuire, Joan Blondell, and Peggy Ann Garner (who won the Academy Juvenile Award).

The film is based on an American novel A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith first published in 1943. It relates the coming-of-age story of its main character, Francie Nolan, and the story of her life from the age 11 to 17 ... against a backdrop of tenement life in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, in the early 20th century.

this movie makes me cry every time I get a chance to watch it.

Louisville, Kentucky is truly a very Beautiful city ... with a very Great and long History.

a little cut and paste from Wikipedia.

The history of Louisville, Kentucky spans hundreds of years, with thousands of years of human habitation. The area's geography and location on the Ohio River attracted people from the earliest times. The city is located at the Falls of the Ohio River. The rapids created a barrier to river travel, and settlements grew up at this pausing point.

Louisville has been the site of many important innovations through history. Notable residents have included inventor Thomas Edison, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, boxing legend Muhammad Ali, newscaster Diane Sawyer, actors Victor Mature and Tom Cruise, actresses Sean Young and Jennifer Lawrence, the Speed family (including U.S. Attorney General James Speed and Abraham Lincoln's close friend Joshua Fry Speed), the Bingham family, industrialist/politician James Guthrie, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and writers Hunter S. Thompson and Sue Grafton.

Notable events occurring in the city include the largest installation to date (in 1883) and first large space lighted by Edison's light bulb and the first library in the South open to African Americans. Medical advances included the first human hand transplant in the United States, the first self-contained artificial heart transplant, and development of the first cervical cancer vaccine.

old architecture of Louisville, Kentucky

Who knew that Louisville has the largest number of contiguous Victorian-era houses in the United States? Walking down the streets of the city's historic Old Louisville, which is just south of downtown Louisville and north of the University of Louisville, is famous for its many Victorian era homes featuring ...

Thank you, Byron. :~) I was born and raised in Louisville, and have never lived anywhere else. I like it. "Old Louisville" is near my house, and downtown. The University of Louisville, where I graduated, is part of Old Louisville. It is a very cool area. :~) In the Fall, the neighborhood hosts a big art fair - St. James Court Art Fair.

Were you able to find Hitchcock in the movie? In most of his movies, he shows up; however, I've never been able to find him.
