Comet's, Jellystone National Park with Yogi, all better odds then global warming killing us... Are you going to come to a point? It would be nice. Odds of being killed by a 10 mile comet or Jellystone blowing up are still better then being killed by global warming. Hands down, this is a fact... LOL! Batter up we better leave it there as this is the wrong thread to have a conversation about the bible . Plus I am already cursed for figuring out the timeline of I believe Daniels profercy . Of corse the minister that I told it to at a bible reading forgot to tell me about the curse that came with it . He then tells me after asking me what I thought . He whanted to know more about how I figured it out but I have never gone back As the bible says the truth is out there you only have to open your eyes and ears and mind to find it |

There is a 100% chance that neither one of you know a thing about the Bible or climate. The only thing I have seen out of the both of you is a bastardization of both subjects. You're both overthinking the Bible and underthinking the climate. I deny that either of you are on topic. Must not conflict resolve by suggesting that someone should go sit on an ice pick... |

Are religion and politics and big business in denial of the real world and of world pollution for the sake of their own selfish continued existence?... And Marketing and Markets control are their tools. Are we Biblically doomed by such denial?! Are religion and politics and big business in denial of the real world and of world pollution for the sake of their own selfish continued existence?... In religion you make up our own beliefs and a made-up reality to deliberately be divorced from reality. My reflection on the unreality of the Markets is merely an unholy wry parody. And the real world be damned for the sake of "fiscal manoeuvrings"... Meanwhile, the Denial has to deny ever more about the world we are wringing with what industrial-scale Fossils pollution has wrought: 8 charts that show how climate change is making the world more dangerous Disasters including storms, floods and heatwaves have increased fivefold since the 1970s... ... The first decade of the 21st century saw 3,496 natural disasters from floods, storms, droughts and heat waves. That was nearly five times as many disasters as the 743 catastrophes reported during the 1970s – and all of those weather events are influenced by climate change. The bottom line: natural disasters are occurring nearly five times as often as they were in the 1970s. But some disasters – such as floods and storms – pose a bigger threat than others. Flooding and storms are also taking a bigger bite out of the economy. But heat waves are an emerging killer... And yet the Denialists want yet MORE: Arctic oil: it is madness to celebrate a new source of fossil fuels As the first barrels head for Europe, we cannot afford – and do not need – new sources of harder to reach fossil fuels... ... This is the oil from the rig that the Arctic 30 went to jail for peacefully protesting against. It has been logistically challenging. Extracting even small amounts of oil in extreme Arctic conditions has taken them longer, and cost them more, than the company had planned. But Gazprom has done it and claims first place in the race to exploit the melting Arctic sea ice for more of the fossil fuels that caused the melting in the first place. It is a defining moment... Madness? Utter divorced from reality madness? All on our only one planet, Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Global warming/climate change is a made up deal to make the super rich richer! Look to your God Al Gore! See him cut back yet? DAMN! Wake up! ========================================================= First it does not matter if it gets hotter or cooler changing weather is bad first. while seeing the sahara desert arable again as it has been in the past may be niece. The disruption to farms and the raising of livestock will cause great hardship. So what should be done? The planetary weather is undeniably changing this is nothing new weather changes. As recently as the 1850's there was an ice age. So understanding and possibly changing weather is important. Next fossil fuels have been important only because they where cheap this is no longer so. And only three things can be done now or soon to replace it. 1)tidal power it is much more concentrated than wind and more predictable. but it has the downside of having to be so large that it too will affect weather. 2) Thorium cycle nuclear reactors the good news here is that they can burn the nuclear waste from current fast breeder reactors that we now use and they will burn the other 98% of the nuclear material that is not used in current reactors. the bad news is that while it is much safer than current designs it is still nuclear and will be hard to sell although it is about the only way rapidly reduce the radioactivity of the waste we now have. 3) Fusion the Skunkworks at Northrop Aviation says that they can have a 100 megawatt prototype by 2017 and a production line within ten years of that. with adequate cheap power the pollution can be cleaned up and everyone can have an American life style. |

Global warming/climate change is a made up deal to make the super rich richer! Look to your God Al Gore! See him cut back yet? DAMN! Wake up! ID - you have issues with Al Gore. I understand that. I get highly offended too by politicians jetting about from photo opportunity to photo opportunity and achieving nothing except great big polluted buttprints and masses of hot air venting from them. But, I have only ever heard you call this butt a god. Could you cite another source do you think - or at least point me towards one? :) Moving away from the god that brings on outrage, to the One Martin raised... Are we Biblically doomed by such denial?! ... which you took exception to. You don't believe in God. So why are you primadonnaing about the Bible? I notice you took no high moral ground with regards the wealth encrusting the politics and big business of denial that Martin was referring to at the start of his post. It leaves me thinking that wealth is not what offends you at all. Just which hands it is in. If I have jumped to the wrong conclusion, I am sure you will tell me so :) Now I hope everyone will forgive me if I just pose something for a moment :) It has arisen through researching the basis of opposition to natural selection (and tracing the funding of its science to some of the individual benefactors behind it). This is not the place to go into it - but if I may float the idea and get some opinions on it, I would be grateful :) The desire to have armageddon prophecies proven "right" has gotten stronger and stronger amongst Christian fundamentalists, particularly as the battle is being lost on numbers. (Perhaps they look forward to an end of their energy problems by tapping into the eternal fires of hell, I don't know.) But anything that can hurry that along is increasingly being seen as doing the Lords's work. Nothing horrifies the religious extremist more than having their efforts being undermined right under their nose. Compared to the (albeit brutal) honesty of the jihad, denying climate change yet attributing it's effects to the start of the end of days seems disturbingly common - much like the hysteria over the blood moons tiresomely foretelling the second coming (or have I just been spending too much time reading some really dodgy stuff on the internet :)) but it is a very devious way of making the ends justify the means surely? Can you reassure me that this is not part of your reasoning ID? I ask because I personally know a number of Christians (some creationists, and others intelligent design believers) for whom it very much is and who see continuing to pollute the planet as hastening utopia. I of course disagree with them (in my usual gentle fashion :)) but I cannot fault their honesty. (edited to remove potentially insulting quotation marks from the word science :)) |
