Absolutely. I would like to warn some professionals to steer clear from kitchen, just in case. See what can happen:

Any recipe that starts out with a half of a pound of bacon works for me...LOL.

People from certain cities as well.
Hamburger, Frankfurter, Berliner.
Ich bin ein Berliner:)

Sailor again. Sjömansbiff
Sailor Steak is a dish consisting of beef (preferably the outer thighs), onions and potatoes cooked in beer or porter. The meat is first browned before it is placed in the pot, interspersed layered with sliced potatoes and onions. Then cook, covered, for about 40 minutes. The name comes from that everything is cooked in the same pot and was a handy dish to cook on board boats. The explanation for that beer came to be used is that fresh water was not always available at sea.

Skomakarlåda, Shoemaker beef.
Skomakarlåda is a dish in the tradition of Swedish cuisine. A skomakarlåda is a slice of fried steak served with mashed potatoes and gravy and normally accessories in the form of diced bacon and pieces of leek, which is put on the steak. Additional accessories may occur. The more lavish versions can be replaced with beef fillet steak.

Stopped by McDonalds yesterday afternoon to pick up a jalapeno double burger, and they didn't have it anymore! Person at the drive-thru acted like I had three heads, asking for it. It was a pretty good sandwich for $2.

I've never really understood the general appeal of bagels. ~They take too much effort to chew. I'd much rather have a nice piece of toast. :~)

I can't say, since I've never had brined salmon.

Then there is LOX, no one can eat that, I'm pretty sure they'd die...

Your right. It's certainly not Liquid OXygen. It is brined salmon.

Yes. It looks like this and it tastes delicious!!!

Although more traditionally a breakfast or brunch dish, Eric and I frequently enjoy bagels with lox (or even more often bagels with smoked salmon) for dinner. Good lox is available in some delicatessens out here. Decent smoked salmon can be found in most supermarkets out here.

The absolute best Beagles and Lox
come from the city of Montreal. I
just thought it was more well known.

edit:
I believe that the best smoked meat sandwiches
also come from that fine city...

Lax or Lox:)
In Scandinavia, there is a simple way of preparing salmon that produces an amazing appetizer with clean flavors and a remarkable texture. This traditional dish is similar (but not quite the same) to lox (cured salmon that has been cold smoked) and is sometimes referred to as Gravad lox, not smoked. Gravlax in its minimalist form uses only four ingredients: salmon, salt, white pepper, sugar, and dill weed.
Gravlax literally means "buried salmon"

The Taste of Chicago opens tomorrow. As usual, I plan to stay far away from it.

Eli's is making a 700 pound cheesecake.

The ingredients include:
700 pounds of cream cheese
200 pounds of sugar
150 pounds of sour cream
95 pounds of eggs (900)
40 pounds of chocolate chips
10 pounds of birthday cake sprinkles
5 pounds of pure vanilla
100 pounds of their butter cookie crust
70 pounds of strawberries
25 pounds of strawberry glaze
100 pounds of buttercream
10 pounds of graham cracker crumbs

It will be served on Saturday for Eli's 35th anniversary.
