Nalley "Not too sweet," said one taster.
That probably means thats too much sugar is added from the beginning in the others.
I wonder why. Sugar and salt is something you can add yourself.

A lot of food manufacturers add unnecessary sugar to
their canned foods. They do this to make it tastier
to children, who drive what a lot of parents buy. I
look at ingredients and purposely buy the brands with
less or zero added sugar.

Salt is added to make it tastier to adults.

I look at labels too, that's why when I make spaghetti, I buy Prego spaghetti sauce, it has the least sugar in it, lower is not available here.

Salt, yeah, I think too much is added to food in the US, I buy frozen veggies, never canned. I only add salt to My eggs and nothing else.

If one does buy canned veggies, rinse them(blanching) in a colander and then add water out of the tap using the can the veggies came from as a measuring device(unless the water comes from a well laced with arsenic, then bottled would be better), it's a trick My Mom taught Me.

I only buy canned chili to make chili dogs and a
chili-cheddar dip.

For the dip you cut a smallish
block of cheddar cheese into small pieces and mix
it with a can of chili. Put it into the microwave
and cook until all the cheese is melted and can
easily be stirred in with the chili. Use as a dip
with tortilla chips.

Very interesting, Suzie-Q.

Or perhaps this.
It seems that the Eskimos were the only one who used the salt with a clear conscience, since they used sea water when cooking. A writer once wrote in 1896: "... large doses of salt can cause vomiting, diarrhea, stomach inflammation and even death ..." Then he has the example of a person who has taken ½ kg. salt in 0.5 liters of beer, 24 hours before his death. One reason that salt was still appreciated, despite all warnings and the "evidence", could have been due to the salt was purchased goods, ie imported goods.

Chili is not okay, it is disgusting. In my opinion, of course. I do not like any aspect of it. Well, okay, ground beef is fine... until the slightest bit of chili powder hits it. I hate all forms of chilis.

Did you have a bad experience with chili peppers, other than in chili itself? I mean, was there another food that had that seasoning you didn't like, or did you eat a raw chili pepper and get turned off by it?

I like to take a bell pepper, slice off the top, and stuff it with things like tuna or cottage cheese.

I had a bad experience as a kid when eating in school.
Carrot stew that was cold and tasting awful.
And I was forced to eat it....
I can't eat carrots since then.

My GF cannot eat pickeled herring because she was also forced to eat that at school.
In her case it was pickeled herring on a piece of bread together with a glass of milk.
Yeck :(

Perhaps not scary.
The combination of pickeled herring and milk is awful and disgusting.

I almost accidentally got a breaded chicken liver patty at a cafeteria, once. It looked like chicken-fried steak.

LOL
A 2002 survey showed the average American will have eaten 1,500 of PB&J sandwiches before having been graduated from high school.

And we have the Elvis sandwich.

My Dad and Brother both liked liver, Where as My Mom and I did not, as to My Sister, I don't know if She liked liver or not, I never asked and now asking would get no answer('46-'99).

I just don't like either the heat or the taste. I used to eat green bell peppers in small amounts, but I don't even like those much in the last few years.

I never liked liver and never even tried to eat it for many years. In her last year, my mother asked me to make her liver, and I tried a bite. I still didn't like it.

Turns out Hunts, Ragu and at least Classico makes low sugar and/or low salt pasta/spaghetti sauce. I know home made would probably be better, but I don't have the money or energy for that, so premade it is.

Nice to see food manufactures saying "No added sugar".
Sugar in food is not needed!
Especially not in a pasta sauce.
Add some carrots and you get sweetness.
