Monday, 10 kg is about 20 pounds. I have 30 pounds that I would like to shed. Want a dieting partner? We could start a thread entitled "Lose weight with Monday" where all of us trying to eat less and move more could commiserate together.

Monday, I'm sure this is a hard diagnosis, but hopefully following a good diet and exercise plan will help you feel better, so that's a positive.

Just got back from Aldies with a frozen pizza for dinner...can we start tomorrow?
I was stopped at the lights and this little kid on the lawn outside the library pointed at me and said look to his dad. He was only about 18 months old and was fascinated by my bike. I smiled and gave it a few revs. He looked so excited and it was so cute. It made me feel good. I needed a bit of a lift.

edit PS thanks Gordon.

Hi Jeff, sorry to hear about the diabetes, but at least you know about it now and it can be treated.

1 drink for me is a 5 liter cask of wine each day. :-)

Are your figures right? That is 7 standard bottles of wine? Even our UK wine boxes are only 3 litres.

Near enough. I'm a bit of a pig but I can only drink 5 or 6 in a row before I crash and burn with liver failure, alcohol poisoning and a sincere desire for Marbooka to strike me down dead. Thats what happens if I have one drink. I have a huge tollerence developed over many years of heavy drinking. :-)

Jeff; I've heard of MANY cases of diabetes where in the first year of early diagnosis, that with proper exercise and diet, (honestly working at it), that the diabetes is reversed. Just look at Drew Carey!!! He lost all that weight and has reversed his diabetes:

Drew Carey reversed his diabetes!

If he can do it; so can you! Don't give up, please.

My initial diagnosis was what inspired me to lost 50 pounds the first time. I did it over the course of a summer, mainly just with eating better, then held it until the next spring. But then I got a bunch of added stress and started "rewarding" myself for dealing with it by eating bad stuff and soon I needed smaller and smaller excuses.

Right now, I'm kind of stuck in a cycle where I tell myself I need to stop eating such crap, but before I do I want to have it just one more time, and oh, here's a new place I've never been to before, let's see if their crap is any good...

From the movie "Contact":

Ted Arroway: Small moves, Ellie, small moves.

And

Alien: You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.

We can make it better, Monday. We're with you.

Best,

Good luck Monday. Just cutting out those empty calories, vino, would be a good start. Have to admit, I am having some tonight.

Ang, looking forward to the thread. Posting a food diary might be a good start.
